Top Ten Tuesday – Nine People Who Have Inspired Me as a Reader

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. As it’s Thanksgiving this week for all my US friends, this week’s topic is a Thanksgiving freebie, so I thought I’d say thanks to the people who have inspired me most as a reader, both in my love for reading and in my reading choices. I’ve even organised the list somewhat chronologically!

Top Ten Tuesday – Book Titles That Would Make Great Song Titles

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Book Titles That Would Make Great Song Titles, and I found it surprisingly easy to come up with this list (thanks to my Kindle 😊). In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of these ARE already song titles. I’d love to know if you know any that are!

Top Ten Tuesday – Non-Bookish Hobbies

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week we’re talking about non-bookish hobbies, and I have to say, this list has made me realise just how much of my life revolves around books! Nevertheless, here goes:

Top Ten Tuesday – Reformation Fiction

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is a Hallowe’en Freebie, but 31 October also happens to be Reformation Day, when Martin Luther is purported to have nailed his 95 theses to the door of a church in Wittenberg, protesting against the Catholic Church’s practice of selling indulgences. And since I don’t generally celebrate Hallowe’en (or read books that are likely to qualify for a Hallowe’en Freebie list), I’ve come up with a list of ten books that in some way feature the religious tensions between Catholics and Protestants.

It’s actually quite a difficult topic to find fictional novels on, and I didn’t want to double up on novels that I featured in a Reformation Reads post from a few years ago, so I had to do a bit of searching to round out my numbers to ten. …

Top Ten Tuesday – Books with Really Long Titles

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is Super Long Book Titles, and I admit I had some help from Goodreads Lists for this one! I’ve read a few of the titles on my list, but the rest are books I’d never even heard of until I went looking for books with super long titles! I’m curious to read some of them now, though, so let me know if you’ve read any of these and enjoyed them. (I’ve read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck, and The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade).

Top Ten Tuesday – Covers That Say Spring

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week we’re featuring covers that have fall/autumn colours or vibes, or in my case, spring colours/vibes, since I live in the southern hemisphere.

When I started browsing through the covers of all the books on my Kindle, I didn’t have a specific idea of what I was looking for, but it wasn’t long before I worked out that certain tones of blue and green say spring to me. Here in Australia, it’s green grass and blue skies, but without the extreme heat that characterises our summers (and often turns the grass a golden-wheat colour). Hence, you’ll find lots of these covers feature greenery, a certain hue of blue in the sky, and perhaps just a hint of a breeze. Ah, spring!

Top Ten Tuesday – A Marvel of Metaphors

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt was Favourite Book Quotes.

One of my favourite features of Kindle reading is the ability to highlight my favourite quotes, so my problem this week wasn’t so much finding quotes as it was narrowing down my selection! There are all kinds of reasons why a sentence or a paragraph might grab my attention, but one of my favourite literary devices is metaphor. I love the way it enables you to convey so much more than a literal description might, and often in far fewer words.

So here are ten favourites.

Metaphors be with you!

Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Fall/Spring New Releases on My TBR

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is pretty simple: We’re getting excited for our spring/autumn TBRs. (My love of making book lists is second only to actually reading them, so I always have a ton of books to choose from!)

To help narrow my selections down (because you all realise I will be reading a lot more than ten books over the next three months, right?), I’m listing ten new/upcoming releases that have caught my eye.
