I’m going slightly rogue today for Top Ten Tuesday. The girls at The Broke and the Bookish have given the topic Ten Hidden Gems in X Genre. Well, I’m not limiting myself to one genre. That’s too difficult. And I’ve decided to be a little more specific on the ‘hidden gems’ part. I’m going to champion some of my favourite reads that have less than 50 reviews on Amazon.
Some of you may already be aware that the number of reviews a book has on Amazon determines how much promotion it receives, but if you don’t, REVIEWS MATTER! It doesn’t have to be long, and it doesn’t have to be a Pulitzer prize winner (something I constantly have to remind myself of!) but it’s one of the greatest ways you can help an author! So if you’ve read any of these books, send some love their way. And if you haven’t, buy them and THEN send some love their way! 😃

Abiassa’s Fire series ~ Ronie Kendig
Simple rule: Always, always, always buy Ronie Kendig’s books. Seriously. That’s all you need to know. You’re welcome. 🙂 You can read my review for Accelerant here.
The Uncloaked series ~ J. Rodes
A YA dystopian series that deserves a lot more love! So compelling, and the final book in the series will be releasing soon. (Hallelujah!) Read my review for The Uncloaked and Tearing the Veil.
Turtles in the Road ~ Rhonda and Kaley Rhea
If you’re looking for your next belly-laugh inducing read, look no further. This is, hands down, one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. And so sweet! You can read my review on Goodreads.
Out of Darkness ~ Erynn Newman
If you love romantic suspense, you have to pick up a copy of this book. She was bride and a widow in the same day, but Elisabeth Allen is about to get her prayers answered . . . if the CIA, international arms dealers, and her best friend don’t get in the way! Read my review of Out of Darkness.
Hearts at War series ~ Angela K. Couch
If you enjoy the historical romances set around the time of the American Revolution, then you will love this series. Conflicting loyalties, danger, and of course, romance! Read my review for The Scarlet Coat and The Patriot and the Loyalist.
The Thorn Healer ~ Pepper Basham
Another war-time romance, this time during WWI. If you have ever read Pepper Basham, you will know what a treat you’re in for with this book. If you haven’t, be prepared to fall in love, especially with the charming August Reinhold. But it’s only fair to warn you. You may feel the uncontrollable urge to take up lawn tennis after this one… 😉 Read my review of The Thorn Healer.
Better Together ~ Kimberly Stuart
A book that handles motherhood, married life, and miscarriage with a balance of humour and poignancy. I snorted with laughter, I wiped away the tears, and I got a great story into the bargain. Read my review of Better Together.
The Flowers of Eden series ~ Myra Johnson
A series that follows the stories of three sisters during the Great Depression as they struggle to keep their farm profitable in difficult times. Lovely historical detail, and engaging characters and writing. Read my review for Castles in the Clouds.
The Divide ~ Jolina Petersheim
Did you ever think you would hear the words ‘Mennonite’ and ‘Dystopian’ in the same sentence? The Divide and its antecedent, The Alliance, combines these things brilliantly, considering how a Mennonite community handles the challenges to its way of life when they’re forced to protect not only their food, but their very lives. I recommend reading The Alliance first. Read my review for The Divide.
The Haven Seekers series ~ Amanda G. Stevens
The government has taken control of the church, and only their approved Bibles are legal. Is Marcus Brenner ready for what God has in store for him? I love, love, loved this series. Camy Tang’s “Protection for Hire” series were action packed with hefty doses of humor and a dash of romance that I really enjoyed, but I seemed to be in the minority. The third book in the series hasn’t come out and I fear it was due to possibly low sales or lack of interest.

That’s one I’ve been meaning to check out. What a shame if that’s the reason the third didn’t come out.
Just bury me under my TBR pile. All of these look so amazing, and I’ve only read Pepper’s book.
