Top Ten Tuesday – Most Recent Additions To My TBR

Posted 21 January 2020 by Katie in Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, coming to you courtesy of That Artsy Reader Girl. This week we’re listing the ten most recent additions to our TBRs, and if you’ve been hanging around here for the last week and half you’ll know I’ve just spent the last week and a half talking about all the books releasing in 2020 and which ones are on my TBR. Lol! If you missed those posts, here they are:

Looking Forward To…
Contemporary Romance
Romantic Suspense
Thriller/Suspense/Mystery
Historical Romance
Biblical Fiction
General Fiction & Time-Slip
Speculative & YA

For today’s list, then, I went to Goodreads and looked at my “Want to Read” list to find the ten most recent additions to my TBR that AREN’T releasing in 2020. Here goes…

THE JANE AUSTEN SOCIETY
Natalie Jenner

This one just went I my list this morning, thanks to author and friend Rachel McMillan. She hasn’t even written her review yet, but she said there’s a total Dawsey-like character, so I’m sold. It’s also the one exception to my “not releasing in 2020 rule,” but since it didn’t feature in any of my previous lists, I included it here. 🙂

THE GIRL FROM SNOWY RIVER
Jackie French

I only recently discovered this series by Australian author Jackie French and read the first book over the Christmas break (A Waltz for Matilda). I love that I’ve found an Australian historical fiction saga!

THE GIRL IN THE PAINTING
Tea Cooper

Speaking of Australian historical authors, Tea Cooper came to my attention recently, and I discovered this book SET IN MY HOME TOWN OF MAITLAND! Not only that, but the author is doing a book signing here at the beginning of February! I’m looking forward to picking up a signed copy in person!

27 WAYS TO FIND A BOYFRIEND
Shari L. Tapscott

This is another author/friend recommendation, this time from Sarah Monzon. I’ve been looking for some new (clean) rom com authors, and this was one of her suggestions.

ELANTRIS
Brandon Sanderson

Yet another author/friend recommendation. (Don’t you love those?!) Ronie Kendig deserves the credit for putting Brandon Sanderson on my radar, and Amanda G. Stevens gets the credit for the specific recommendation. I’m finding myself increasingly drawn to character-driven fantasy, so I’m looking forward to diving into this one. (Especially since the cover on the copy I recently purchased is much nicer. Lol!)

KITTY PECK AND THE MUSIC HALL MURDERS
Kate Griffin

This is another book I’ve added to my TBR thanks to a Rachel McMillan review (which are often treats to read in themselves). I’m still tossing up whether this one will ultimately be for me—it’s a dark and gritty world, so I’ll probably need to pick my moment—but something about the setting just begs to be read.

THE PERFECT BLEND
Allie Pleiter

I recently had the chance to read the first in this series (My So-Called Love Life) and really enjoyed the light-hearted, engaging writing and the unusual job of the main character (who voices a popular animated character). So the second book in the series is now on my TBR.

THE KING’S JUSTICE
Susan Elia MacNeal

I think this books is something like #9 in the series, so I should probably begin at book #1 and make my way along, but a stolen violin, a female spy, a serial killer, and WWII sounds like an irresistible reading combination to me!

THE CONVENIENT GROOM
Denise Hunter

When it came out in conversation yesterday that I haven’t read dear friend and fellow blogger Rel Mollet‘s favourite Denise Hunter novel, I was advised to “Dump the TBR and get that book stat!!!!” This is as far as I’ve gotten so far, but I’m on the case, Rel. 😉

REGALLY BLONDE
Heather Horrocks

This is the second in another series I stumbled upon recently in my search for clean rom com/chick lit. The first was Pride & Precipitation, and it was a light, fun read, so I’m going to give the second one a go too.

What’s a recent addition to your TBR?
