Top Ten Tuesday – Under-loved Favourites

I’m going slightly rogue today for Top Ten Tuesday. The girls at The Broke and the Bookish have given the topic Ten Hidden Gems in X Genre. Well, I’m not limiting myself to one genre. That’s too difficult. And I’ve decided to be a little more specific on the ‘hidden gems’ part. I’m going to champion some of my favourite reads that have less than 50 reviews on Amazon.

Weekend Book Buzz – 22/23 July 2017

Hello again, book lovers! Many apologies for having to skip last week’s Book Buzz post. We have been plagued by colds and viruses around here, and while we’re not out of the woods yet, we can see the clearing on the other side, shall we say. Not to mention I’ve managed to catch up on some of my backlog! 😳 Since we missed last week, I have included links to my posts from the last two weeks below.

Tearing the Veil (J. Rodes) – Review

~ About the Book ~ Braxton Luther, the sellout.  Now a part of the Den, he’s determined to make good on Eliza Knight’s faith in him—to be more than what he’d settled for when the Party had taken over. But his goal is dangerous, and not just for him. As he searches for a way to protect the silent, invisible victims of the new government, Braxton’s mission—which includes finding a way to rescue Eliza from the Reformation Camp—becomes even more complicated. Hannah Knight, Eliza’s sister, is simply too much like him.

Top Ten (approximately) Tuesday – Best of 2017 (so far…)

It’s that time of year again! Can you believe we’re already half-way through 2017?! And so, naturally, this week’s topic from the girls at The Broke and the Bookish is Best Books in 2017 so far. I’m limiting myself to new releases for this post, so in order of release, here are my Top Ten Picks for the first half of 2017:

Weekend Book Buzz – 3/4 June 2017

My goodness! Is it June already? Where did the first half of the year go? This weekend has been a flurry of activity at our house (hence the later-than-usual-book-buzz-post) as we’re preparing to leave for our trip to Melbourne on Tuesday (an 11-12 hour drive that we will be doing over two days!) We’ll be catching up with friends and family, viewing some original Van Gogh paintings, and I might even be catching up with one or two people you know . . . 😉 But for now, here’s a recap of what’s happened on the blog this week:

The Uncloaked (J. Rodes) – Review

~ About the Book ~ No one stirred in the area—people stayed in their little hovels. Hiding, most likely. From the cold, the helplessness. Maybe from the Party. Staying out of sight, like cockroaches. I am not a cockroach. “Apathy is the illness of the overprivileged…” Words laced with fear—and maybe a hint of prophecy. His father’s words. Words Braxton would prefer to ignore. Braxton Luther is sixteen when the Progressive Reform Party takes over the government. It can’t be that bad. So they don’t want religion in government—that’s constitutional. He can’t understand his church’s hypersensitive reaction or his father’s
