Welcome to my final Looking forward to… post for the first half of 2020! Today I’ll be sharing upcoming speculative and young adult (YA) releases in Christian fiction. Speculative fiction is an umbrella term that encompasses not only fantasy and science fiction, but also novels that speculate about future events or are set in our world but include an element of the supernatural.
Young adult novels feature main characters who are aged in their teens, and are therefore often aimed at the teen market, however my experience is that they can often be enjoyed by not-so-young adults as well!
And don’t forget to check out the previous posts in this series:

Katie’s TBR and Reading Goals
There was a time when speculative fiction wasn’t really on my radar, but I’m finding that I’m developing a much greater appreciation for it in the last year or two—perhaps as my children get older and are finding themselves drawn primarily to the fantasy genre, or perhaps just a shift that’s happened thanks to the exposure to some fantastic speculative novels! Whatever the case, I’m really excited about exploring this genre more in the coming year!
I actually have a few categories for TBR and reading goals in this genre. The first is books that I will be reading and reviewing for release:
Secondly, there are others that I’m really keen to read ASAP, but don’t think I’ll have time to read for release:
And finally, there are some recommendations from friends that I now have on my bookshelf and am keen to fit in to my reading time. For the sake of time and space, I’ll just share the cover from the first in each series, where applicable:
The Pendragon Cycle by Stephen R. Lawhead The Belgariad series by David Eddings Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
How many of these books will be on your TBR in 2020? And if you have an author or series recommendation, I’d love to hear it!
