Dawn of Vengeance (Ronie Kendig) – Review

A haunting prophecy upended his identity. Now it demands his life.

Once a formidable bounty hunter, Marco Dusan is plagued by insecurity as he tours the realm he now rules. This quiet, backwater planet is not as untouched as he’d once thought. Evidence of collusion between Droseran factions and the powerful Symmachians with their forbidden technology litters his encounters. Worse, all signs indicate Xisya, the alien who tortured him, is still snatching Kynigos Brethren–but to what end?

Lance Corporal Eija Zacdari works hard to win a coveted place on the Symmachian hyperjump program, but instinct tells her their intel is flawed. Despite nearly failing the tests, she is assigned to the team-and lands in the middle of a bewildering conspiracy.

Crystal Witness (Kathy Tyers) – Review + Giveaway

Her memories are blocked. Her freedom is gone. Her crime is a mystery.

When Ming Dalamani awakens from twenty years of suspended animation, she recalls only fragments of her former life: the life she led before she was arrested by the governing interplanetary corporation, Renasco, for a now unremembered crime.

Relocated to an alien world far from the only home she has ever known, Ming serves a powerful Renasco representative to repay her debt. But daily she lives with deadly threats from two men—the hideous mutant Zardir Huekk and the handsome, secretive musician Tieg Innig—who both want the same thing: information. Renasco-trained as a calligrapher in three dimensions, Ming begins to remember more: a clan, a mission, and interstellar piracy.

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. I’m diving into the science fiction realm this week with Kathy Tyers’ upcoming release Crystal Witness. Looking Forward to Speculative and YA in 2020

Welcome to my final Looking forward to… post for the first half of 2020! Today I’ll be sharing upcoming speculative and young adult (YA) releases in Christian fiction. Speculative fiction is an umbrella term that encompasses not only fantasy and science fiction, but also novels that speculate about future events or are set in our world but include an element of the supernatural.

Young adult novels feature main characters who are aged in their teens, and are therefore often aimed at the teen market, however my experience is that they can often be enjoyed by not-so-young adults as well!

Best of 2019 – Emoji Files, Part IV: Take Me Away

Welcome back, reader friends! It’s time for Part IV of my annual Emoji Files celebrating my best reads of 2019. If you’ve missed my previous posts for 2019, make sure you check out The Swoony Awards, Got Me in the Feels, and The WOW Awards.

The Take Me Away Awards go to those books that were truly immersive reads, carrying me away to different times and places with authentic historical, sensory, and cultural details. Through these stories I’ve travelled all over the world and beyond and experienced castles, asylums, and so many things in between.

Best of 2019 – Emoji Files, Part III: The WOW Awards

Hello again, reader friends! Welcome to Part III of my annual Emoji Files celebrating my best reads of 2019. If you’ve missed either of the posts to date, you can check out The Swoony Awards and Got Me in the Feels.

Today I’m presenting the WOW Awards for those books that kept me riveted with high-intensity action, pumping adrenaline, plot twists, or just some good old-fashioned suspense. And it’s not every year (in fact, not any year so far) that there is an opportunity to include a whole series, but that’s what I’m starting with this year.

Brand of Light (Ronie Kendig) – Review

There’s a price on her head, and it has everything to do with the brand on her arm.

Tertian Space Coalition has blessed every planet in the quadrants with high technology, save one: Drosero. But in spite of their tenuous treaty with the ruling clans, TSC has plans for the backward planet. And they’re not alone.

After a catastrophic explosion, Kersei Dragoumis awakens in a derelict shuttle, alone, injured, and ignorant of the forbidden technology that has swept her into a nightmare.
