Happy new year, reader friends! Yesterday I began posting my annual best-of series of posts, which I’ve dubbed The Emoji Files, since I group my favourite reads of the year according to the emotional impact they had on me. Yesterday was the Swoony Awards, so if you missed that, make sure you check it out here.

Today, I’m going to be introducing you the reads that really ‘Got Me in the Feels’. These are the books that made me really emotionally invested in the story, often (but not always) to the point of tears. Stories of hardship and courage, stories of loss, and stories of transformation. And two stories that just left me emotionally reeling! (How the Light Gets In and Brand of Light.)

How the Light Gets In by Jolina Petersheim (read my review)
My Dearest Dietrich by Amanda Barratt (read my review)
Grace in Deep Waters by Christine Dillon (read my review)

Whose Waves These Are by Amanda Dykes (read my review)
The Seamstress by Allison Pittman (read my review)
Of Fire and Lions by Mesu Andrews (read my review)

Within These Lines by Stephanie Morrill (read my review)
Brand of Light by Ronie Kendig (read my review)
Wings Like a Dove by Camille Eide (review to come)

Which books really got you in the feels in 2019?
