First Line Friday – A Dream Within a Dream (Mike Nappa & Melissa Kosci)

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. It’s a suspense read for me this week, with the third book in Mike Nappa’s Coffey & Hill series: A Dream Within a Dream. I enjoyed the previous two books in this series, Annabel Lee and The Raven (if you’re sensing an Edgar Allen Poe theme here, pat yourself on the back), so I’m not expecting anything less with this one. And that first line is about as punchy as it gets!

First Line Friday – Crystal Witness (Kathy Tyers)

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. I’m diving into the science fiction realm this week with Kathy Tyers’ upcoming release Crystal Witness. When I read the description for this book, it piqued my interest, especially since I’ve been wanting to give one of Kathy’s novels a try for a while now. (I’ve heard several people rave about Firebird, which I still have my eye on.) Look for my review coming soon!

First Line Friday – The White Rose Resists (Amanda Barratt)

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. My reading this week has consisted of INSPY reading (as one of the judges in the YA category this year), but I have sooooo many books waiting once I’m finished, including Amanda Barratt’s The White Rose Resists, which I’m anxious to read (with a box of tissues by my side). Anyone else have books taunting them from their TBR pile? Oh, who am I kidding? That’s probably all of you! 😊

First Line Friday – Lu. (Beth Troy)

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. Apologies for being absent last week. My site was down for several days, and even once it was back up again, there were more days of it being down intermittently. Hopefully all that is resolved now!

I love the first line of the book I’ve chosen for today’s First Line Friday post because it makes you think. On the one hand, it foreshadows the main themes of the story, both the truth that there is “nothing new under the sun” and the truth that, without Jesus, we are stuck in a meaningless cycle (yes, Ecclesiastes is a prominent theme in this book! Lol.)

But it’s also paradoxical too, because this is the story of how Lu gets out of that cycle. She has the ability to change the direction her story is taking.

First Line Friday – When I Lost My Way (Jennifer Rodewald)

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. Jennifer Rodewald is one of my favourite contemporary romance writers, so I look forward to any book she releases, but I have to tell you, When I Lost My Way quickly shot to my list of favourites. I will have my full review up closer to release, but for now, here’s a preview: It presents such a rich, panoramic view of the love between a man and a woman, from the heady mix of euphoria and uncertainty that comes with instant mutual attraction right through to the deliberate, purposeful, unconditional love that weathers disappointments and rides out the tough stuff.

It’s up for pre-order now and releases 26 May, so don’t miss out!
