Top Ten Tuesday – Most Recent Book Hangovers

Posted 18 February 2020 by Katie in Romance, Top Ten Tuesday / 10 Comments

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week we’re talking about book hangovers—those books that leave you too book drunk to be able to function like a normal human being. Which also happens to be the only kind of drunk I’ve ever experienced! But anyway…

As it happens, I can’t share my most recent book hangover with you because it was a beta read and it’s still in its early stages. But oh, boy. You can rest assured you’ll be hearing about it when the time is right! MAJOR book hangover!

With that experience dominating my memory, I actually had trouble thinking of any other recent book hangovers…until I went to Goodreads and started scrolling through my “Read” list and found myself saying, “Oh, that’s right! Oh, how could I have forgotten that one? Of course, this one!” Lol. I guess the memory is as vague about book hangovers as it is about other hangovers. 😂

But enough from me. Here are my ten most recent book hangovers…

The Last Shot by Amy Matayo (read my review)
The Way of the Brave by Susan May Warren (read my review)
When I Come Home Again by Jennifer Rodewald (read my review)

On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White (read my review)
Brand of Light by Ronie Kendig (read my review)

Ruby Jane by Susan May Warren (read my review)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowlings
(We listened to the whole series as a family back to back on audio.
We all had a SERIES hangover for days!)

A Convenient Fiction by Mimi Matthews (read my review)

Four Dreams of You by Sondra Kraak (read my review)
Storm Rising by Ronie Kendig (read my review)

What was the last book that gave you a book hangover?

  1. I’m so glad for Goodreads because I also couldn’t think of the last book that gave me a hangover until I went on there and scrolled through my reads 😂 I’ve only heard of Harry Potter from this list but I definitely remember getting such book hangovers when I was a tween and reading it. Great post!

  2. I’m with you — book drunk is the only kind of drunk for me! The HP series is definitely one that inspires book hangovers. I haven’t listened to them on audio, but I hear they’re wonderful to listen to. Glad your family enjoyed them! Only one of my four kids has read them – the other three aren’t interested if you can believe that!

    Happy TTT!

    • Stephen Fry narrating is always guaranteed to be a good listen! And I was not interested for the longest time, but I got hooked pretty quickly 😊

  3. Amy M.

Off the top of my head I’d say Tamara Leigh’s “Age of Conquest” series. Three books in and I can’t get enough of ’em. Also, a pleasant surprise was a Love Inspired book “The Bull Rider’s Secret” by Jill Lynn. Yawzah!!! I still feel like I just got off a bull myself after reading it. 🙂

    • Tamara’s books are always book hangovers when I’ve finished. And it sounds like I need to check out The Bull Rider’s Secret!

    • That’s why we did them back to back 😁 Although I think they accumulated and saved themselves up for the end and hit us all at once! Lol!
