~ About the Book ~

Nikki Boyd’s flight into Nashville was routine–up until the crash landing at the airport. When the dust settles, Nikki discovers that the woman who had been seated next to her on the plane is missing–and no one will admit she was ever there. Erika Hamilton had been flying to Nashville with an air marshal as a key witness in an upcoming grand jury trial. When she flees from the crash, is she running from trouble or straight into it? Before Nikki can even see her family, she and her team are pulled into a missing persons case where the motives are as unclear as the suspects.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lisa Harris has planted danger around every turn in this can’t-put-it-down thrill ride that will leave readers stunned.

~ Excerpt ~

The plane dipped again, shuddering from side to side.
“I’m not sure how much more of this I can take.” The woman’s face paled as she turned to look out the window. “And on top of that, they booked me into a middle seat. I hate the middle seat.” She leaned over to slide her book into her bag, then groaned as her watch snagged on her red cardigan and dropped into her lap. “Can you believe I just had the clasp fixed?”
Nikki looked at the beautiful detail on the watch. “It’s lovely.”
“Thanks—it was my mother’s, and—”
A deafening explosion rocked the back of the plane before the woman could finish. Nikki’s stomach heaved as the plane dropped several hundred feet. She glanced out the window and caught a glimpse of the forested ground below. This wasn’t normal turbulence. Something was very wrong.
“This is the pilot speaking. I need everyone to stay calm and brace for impact. We’re expecting a rough landing.”
A coffeepot smashed to the floor as the plane made a sharp descent. Someone screamed behind her. Nikki glanced at her seatmate’s terrified expression as she leaned forward and braced herself on the seat in front of her. The man at the end of the row was now wide awake as the plane plummeted toward the ground. Her mind spun, unable to focus. So this was what it was like to die? To watch her life flash before her during these final seconds? Her parents, her sister, Tyler . . .
Her body strained against the seat belt. Funny how she’d accepted years ago that the possibility of dying in the line of duty was high, but this way—a plane crash—this was never what she’d imagined.
And why was it that all of a sudden she felt like so many things had been left undone? So many things she wanted to tell her family. Instead, all that was left was a fleeting kaleidoscope of memories of people she loved. Random thoughts of things she wanted to say to her family and friends.
Like how her parents had already lost her sister. How were they going to survive the loss of another child?
And then there was Tyler—
I’m not ready to die, God. Not yet.

~ Review ~

If you love a good law enforcement suspense read, look no further. This book is action from the first chapter to the last—the kind of action that has the good guys on the back foot from the get-go, scrambling to find the person they’re supposed to be protecting, let alone trying to get to the bottom of what’s really going on.

Nikki’s arrival in Nashville also coincides with Tyler’s return from a three month posting in Liberia, and she’s anticipating their reunion as the plane comes in to land, but her personal life takes a backseat before she’s even left the airport. Those who prefer an emphasis on the romantic part of romantic suspense may feel a little disappointed that Nikki and Tyler’s relationship didn’t take a more central role throughout the story, but it honestly didn’t need to in this one. That said, the knowledge that Nikki has some serious news that she is yet to share with Tyler does hover in her mind throughout the story, and the fact that this is weighing on Nikki adds to the urgency and tension in several of the scenes, as well as Nikki’s emotional involvement in the case.

Readers who are eagerly awaiting the answers to what happened to Nikki’s sister will pick up one or two more pieces of information here, but the conclusion to this plot will come in the next book in the series, Vanishing Point, releasing in November 2017. Personally, I can’t wait! In the meantime, this was a gripping read, highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense.
