Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! The book I’m featuring for you today is next up on my TBR, and I have to say, I’m a little nervous about it. I absolutely adore Christina Coryell’s Camdyn Taylor series, and now she’s returning to those characters with a brand new series: The Parker Tales. Only problem is, a title like The Ways We Fall Apart kind of hints that it’s going to be an emotional ride for these characters I love!

I’m featuring the first line from the current book I’m reading, The Unveiling by Tamara Leigh. I love medieval! The first line reads: “A nightmare seized him from sleep, turned around his throat, and filled his mouth so full he could not cry out.”
It’s so good! So much action and adventure and romance. 🙂
I’m halfway through, and there’s definitely been some fun, but I’m starting to get to the falling apart bit now… 😟
I’m just getting started with the short, imaginative *The Beast of Talesend* by Kyle Robert Shultz. I guess the genre would be…comedy/fantasy/mystery? Is “fun” a genre?
First line: Not every story ends in “happily ever after.” In fact, most stories never end at all.
Fun should definitely be a genre! And I love that first line. 🙂

Hannah thought it looked like the saddest house in the world, a slate-roofed Cornish monolith with dark windows for eyes, looming out at them from under November rain. Did houses have feelings , though? she wondered, studying it as they drew steadily closer. Could a house emote? Or was that all in the eyes of the beholder?
