Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! The book I’m featuring for you today is next up on my TBR, and I have to say, I’m a little nervous about it. I absolutely adore Christina Coryell’s Camdyn Taylor series, and now she’s returning to those characters with a brand new series: The Parker Tales. Only problem is, a title like The Ways We Fall Apart kind of hints that it’s going to be an emotional ride for these characters I love!
~ About the Book ~
Life has proven more complicated than she expected, juggling being a mother with her career and baseball travel. Add to that near-constant public scrutiny, and Camdyn Taylor finds herself overthinking her every move. But when her most outspoken critic becomes more brazen than ever, she’ll find herself questioning things she’s never second-guessed before.
Meanwhile, struggles at the plate begin to plague Cole Parker, causing him to fight even harder to keep his position on the team. The search for a successful formula haunts him, and when he finally thinks he’s stumbled onto the answer, it’s one he can’t control. The drive to prove himself in the sport soon threatens to compromise every other area of his life.
Happy ever after is a long-distant fantasy, but are they wrapped too tightly in stress and secrets to find their way back to a happy right now? The beloved characters from The Camdyn Series return in a fight to save everything they’ve built together.
~ First Line ~
“I’ll handle it the way all writers do—name the villain in my next book after her.”
Well, obviously there’s going to be Camdyn’s usual brand of humour as well, no matter how emotional it gets!
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
I love humor in books! That sounds like a fun one, even with some angst! 😉
I’m featuring the first line from the current book I’m reading, The Unveiling by Tamara Leigh. I love medieval! The first line reads: “A nightmare seized him from sleep, turned around his throat, and filled his mouth so full he could not cry out.”
It’s so good! So much action and adventure and romance. 🙂
I’m halfway through, and there’s definitely been some fun, but I’m starting to get to the falling apart bit now… 😟
I’m just getting started with the short, imaginative *The Beast of Talesend* by Kyle Robert Shultz. I guess the genre would be…comedy/fantasy/mystery? Is “fun” a genre?
First line: Not every story ends in “happily ever after.” In fact, most stories never end at all.
Fun should definitely be a genre! And I love that first line. 🙂
Have a good weekend! My first line is from “Somewhere Beyond the Blue: Fun sixty-something romances” – the first one is “A TIME TO PUSH DAISIES” by Marion Ueckermann:
“Caleb Blume shuffled outside onto the wooden deck of his posh Camps Bay apartment, feeling three decades older than his sixty-two years.”
That’s a unique idea for a collection. Enjoy 🙂
Great first line!
Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I am sharing the first line from Sandra Byrd’s novel Lady of a Thousand Treasures. I’m LOVING this book. Currently, I am on chapter 10, so I will share the first line from that chapter.
“I had no faith at all in the doctor who had been tending my uncle.”
Hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend! 🙂❤️ 📚
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Lady of a Thousand Treasures. I’ll have to fit it in somehow!
Happy Friday!🎃
My first lines come from Winter Without You by Beth Good.
Hannah thought it looked like the saddest house in the world, a slate-roofed Cornish monolith with dark windows for eyes, looming out at them from under November rain. Did houses have feelings , though? she wondered, studying it as they drew steadily closer. Could a house emote? Or was that all in the eyes of the beholder?
Have a great weekend and happy reading!💕📚💕
Ooh. Very atmospheric!
Happy Friday! It is a gorgeous autumn day here with temperatures at 69* and breezy.
My first line is from a book on my ever growing TBR list pile….
A Prairie Christmas Collection: 9 Historical Christmas Romances from America’s Great Plains by Tracie Peterson, Tracey Bateman, Deborah Raney, Pamela Griffin, JoAnn S. Grote, Maryn Langer, Darlene Mindrup, Janet Spaeth and Jill Stengl.
From the first novella, Take Me Home by Tracey Bateman.
Coon’s Hollow, Iowa 1887
A frigid wind assaulted Kathleen Johnson the second she stepped off the train onto the boardwalk in front of the Coon’s Hollow station.
Blessings, Tina
Enjoy your read. And your lovely autumn weather 🙂
Emotional is hard, but it always makes a story great! Happy reading!
I’m in the middle of it right now. And it’s soooooo hard to put down!
Happy Friday! On my blog this week I shared Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst but I’m also currently reading Emerald Illusion by Jennifer Rodewald. I’m on chapter 12 so I’ll share the first line from there: “Clouds began to cloak the few stars that were determined to see light into the dreary hill country.” Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading!
I’m really looking forward to Emerald Illusion!
I am sharing from Eternity Between Us by Stephenia McGee. I’ll give you the first line from the third chapter:
The sound intensified, a keening wail that knifed through her very bones and caused them to quiver.
Great Civil War book!
I enjoyed this one!
