Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. I’m itching to get started on my FLF pick this week: State of Lies by Siri Mitchell. And the first line has nothing to do with that. 😉 I’m always up for a great suspense read, and I just love the sound of this one!
About the Book
The secrets of those closest to us can be the most dangerous of all.
Months after her husband, Sean, is killed by a hit-and-run driver, physicist Georgie Brennan discovers he lied to her about where he had been going that day. A cryptic notebook, a missing computer, and strange noises under her house soon have her questioning everything she thought she knew.
With her job hanging by a thread, her son struggling to cope with his father’s death, and her four-star general father up for confirmation as the next Secretary of Defense, Georgie quickly finds herself tangled in a political intrigue that has no clear agenda and dozens of likely villains. Only one thing is clear: someone wants her dead too.
The more she digs for the truth, the fewer people she can trust.
Not her friends.
Not her parents.
Maybe not even herself.
First Line
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
Um, yes PLEASE!
Well hello there, haha. Captivating first line!! Happy Friday!
My first lines are from Deadly Intentions by Rachel Dylan.
Chapter 2.
The impact with the car’s air bag felt like a head-on collision with a train. Smoke filled the air. Fine dust settled around her. She couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. The car rolled one more time, then settled upright.
Happy Friday! My first line is from “The Redemption Road” by Christa MacDonald:
“The jingle of sleigh bells rang out as the door to the shop swung open.”
MMMMHHHHMMMM! lol I’d love for you to stop by:

Today on my blog I shared the first line from My Dearest Dietrich by Amanda Barratt. I just finished A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson but I’m about to start The Healing Jar by Wanda Brunstetter so I’ll share that first line here: “Tears sprang to Lenore Lapp’s eyes as she stood with the others who had come to witness this special English wedding.” Happy reading!
It’s been a long time since I read anything by Siri Mitchell. Enjoy!
Today I’m sharing the first lines from The Killing Tide by Dani Pettrey: “Fire ripped through Finn’s right shoulder, ricocheting down his arm.” Have a great weekend!

I’m currently reading Trial by Patience by Tabitha Bouldin.
“Sully galloped down the trail.”
Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂❤📚
It sounds like a fun read, lol. 🙂
I’m sharing on my blog the first line from When Mountains Sing by Stacy Monson.
The clash of cologne, sweat, and ego assaulted her senses as it did every weekday morning.
I’m really looking forward to this book!
Here’s the first line from my book club’s next selection — Cost of Betrayal. It comes from the novella by Dee Henderson. “Ann Falcon eased toward the front of the crowd.”
