First Line Friday – Network of Deceit (Tom Threadgill)

Happy Friday and welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books. If you love suspense novels, you’re going to love the book I’m featuring today: Network of Deceit by Tom Threadgill. I’ve only just discovered this author, but I’ll definitely be keeping a lookout for his next novel, especially if it features Detective Amara Alvarez. I’ll have a review up in the next few days, but in the meantime, check out the first line!

About the Book

After her rescue of nearly fifty kidnapped children made international headlines, Amara Alvarez gets what she’s worked for: a transfer to San Antonio’s Homicide Division. Reality sets in quickly, though, as her first case, the suspicious death of a teenager at a crowded local water park, brings chaos to her personal life.

As the investigation moves forward and she increases the pressure on the suspects, Amara finds herself under attack by cybercriminals. Her every move is being potentially watched online, and she’s forced to resort to unconventional methods to find the killer. With few leads, she fights to keep her first murder investigation from ending up in the cold case files.

Tom Threadgill is back with another riveting page-turner featuring the detective who is willing to put everything on the line to see that justice is served and lives are protected.

I’m sharing this one on my blog today too! Great minds think alike 😉 I hope there are more Amara Alvarez books in the future!

  2. Network of Deceit was fantastic.

My first line is from A Dance in Donegal by Jennifer Deibel.
    Boston. October 1920
The grandfather clock downstairs chimed the hour, its clangs all too reminiscent of the funeral bells presiding over Mother’s funeral just yesterday morning.

Happy Friday! My first line is from “Lacewood” by Jessica James:

” “Recalculating.” Katie McCain smacked the steering wheel with both hands and then glared at the navigation screen.”

  4. I liked this book better than the first — and that is saying a lot! I just finished an audio version of one of Threadgill’s earlier novels, Coming of Winter. It is darker than the Amara Alvarez novels. I would liken it to Steven James. He got into the mind of the serial killer — intriguing and extremely creepy!
