Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! I’m totally in love with the book I’m sharing with you today—or perhaps, more honestly, the hero. Chase Thompson had me in a puddle at his feet from the first page, so make sure you pick up a copy of Chasing Someday by Crystal Walton. Best of all, it’s just $0.99 at the moment on Kindle!

~ About the Book ~

A country boy looking to win his best friend’s heart. A waitress afraid of giving hers away. And one crazy, impromptu dating plan that’s about to change everything.

Ex-model Livy Hensley has exactly three talents: making coffee, landing herself in the most awkward moments known to man, and failing miserably at relationships. But when the sweetest southern boy on the planet offers to be your dating coach, who could say no? Between struggling to open a café and trying to atone for a consequence of her past, Livy can use all the help she can get. Besides, what could possibly go wrong on a few practice dates with your best friend?

Chase Thompson’s no stranger to hard work. If that’s what it takes to prove to Livy they should be together, then he’s all in. He can handle pretending he’s not hopelessly in love with her. Sort of. Almost.

Okay, nowhere close. But with a conflicting solution to his family’s greatest trial on the line, the stakes of keeping his dating coach plan from backfiring have never been higher.

Up against the countdown of choices, Chase and Livy must find the courage to risk what they fear most for the someday they’ve always hoped for.

~ First Line ~

Of all the ways Chase Thompson could prove how crazy he was about his best friend, this—right here—had to be top of the list.

How’s that for a teaser?!

I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. 1. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Connilyn Cossette’s newest novel, Shelter of the Most High. I cannot wait to get into this book. Currently, I am reading A Tale of Two Hearts by Michelle Griep. It is SO good. I am loving it. I am on chapter 23, so I will post the first line from that chapter here:

“He’d meant to talk to his uncle, truly he had, but the next day passed in a blur of festive activities — and never once had Uncle been without Miss Whymsy at his side.”

Hope you have a great weekend filled with lots of good reading!

  2. Happy Friday! On my blog today, I am featuring one of my favorites, “The Princess” by Lori Wick. Here I will share the first lines from Chapter 3. “Nikolai stood alone in his bedroom and told himself to breathe deeply. He had the window wide open, cool as it was, but still felt as if he were going to suffocate. This was his wedding day.” Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Happy Friday! I forgot about this week being about favorite genre but I DID share one from one of my favorite authors. I have to say historical fiction is my favorite, but I also like suspense to change things up a bit. I’m currently in-between books but I’ll be be starting a new book after dinner tonight. Hope you have a great weekend with lots of quality reading time!

My first line is from Lady of a Thousand Treasures by Sandra Byrd:

    September 1866, Oxfordshire, England
A threading of voices spooled throughout the expansive chamber wherein we waited, voices so decently quiet as to be murmurs.

  5. Happy Friday!😊

My first lines come from Jacob’s Bell by John Snyder…

A deafening screech, then a loud thud jolted Jacob McCallum upright from his slumber as the freight train pulled into the Chicago yards on a chilly September morning in 1944.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😊📚🎃

This looks like a fun read. Off to Amazon I go …

I’m featuring Burden of Proof by DiAnn Mills on my blog today, but I’m currently reading Calm Cool and Connected by Arlene Pellicane, which is about forming good online habits. Here’s the first line:

“Imagine a small device that has gone from nonexistent to indispensable in less than a decade. You’ve probably guessed it. That amazing little invention is the smartphone.”

    Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend! My first line is from Until I Met You by Kimberly Rose Johnson, which is included in the collection A Christmas To Remember:

“Early Saturday morning, Brandi Prescott held her latte in one hand and opened the door to leave her favorite coffee shop in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle.”

  8. Happy Friday! I’m sharing the first line from Lady of a Thousand Treasures by Sandra Byrd on my blog, so here is the second line:

“All present quickened as lightning pierced the ground just outside the wide panel of windows, like a finger pointing deep within the earth.”
