Welcome to First Line Friday! I’m very excited to share today’s first line with you because I’ve been waiting to read this book ever since I finished the first in the series. Talk about gripping reading! Let me introduce you to If I’m Found:

~ About the Book ~

Is Dylan hunting Casey to prosecute her or protect her?

Casey Cox is still on the run, fleeing prosecution for a murder she didn’t commit. Dylan Roberts—her most relentless pursuer—is still on her trail, but his secret emails insist that he knows the truth and wants to help her. He’s let her escape before when he had her in his grasp, but trust doesn’t come easily.

As Casey works to collect evidence about the real murderers, she stumbles on another unbearable injustice: an abused child and a suicidal man who’s also been falsely accused. Casey risks her own safety to right this wrong and protect the little girl from her tormenters. But doing so is risky and just may result in her capture—and if she’s captured, she has no doubt she’ll be murdered before she ever steps foot in a jail.

In this riveting sequel to the USA Today bestseller If I Run, evil lurks, drawing Casey out of the shadows . . . but there is light shining in the darkness. Is Dylan a provision from the God who loves her, or another heartache yet to happen?

  1. “It was 2 p.m. on the afternoon of May 7, 1915. The Lusitania had been struck by two torpedoes in succession and was sinking rapidly, while the boats were being launched with all possible speed.” The Secret Adversary, by Agatha Christie.
This is two sentences, however, the first sentence alone wasn’t enough. I love Agatha Christie and this book is Tommy and Tuppence! YAY! Enjoy!

I am currently reading The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney.
First line says “Because the three Plumbs had agreed on the phone the previous evening that they should not drink in front of their brother Leo, they were all- unbeknownst to one another- sitting in separate bars in and around Grand Central, savoring a furtive cocktail before lunch.”

I loved the irony in that statement and it hooked me in!

I tried a new author whom Elaine Cooper recommended because she needs reviews, and I am really enjoying it! My first line is: “Young lady, my marital status is none of your concern.” from Secrets & Charades by Cindy Ervin Huff

  5. I’m currently reading Cynthia Ruchti’s A FRAGILE HOPE, but I’m at work and her book is on my nightstand. The book closest to me now is IN THE BEST INTEREST OF STUDENTS. 🙂 Nobody’s interested in “Years ago, when the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation went into effect….” 🙂 However, if anyone has Cynthia’s book at hand and wants to add the first line for me… 😉

I have a feeling this is one of those books that will keep me up at night because of the suspense. 😉

I don’t read many suspense/thriller books but I really liked that book!
