On Monday, I introduced you to two of the characters from Christina Coryell’s new release, Written in the Stars. (If you missed that post, you can read it here.) Today, I have two other important characters for you to meet: Hunter Pearce and Gatlin Moore. Loyal and hardworking, these fellas have their own backroads stories to tell . . .
Hunter Pearce
Age: 29
Brief Physical Description: Hunter is around 5’10” with a slim build, dark walnut colored hair, and light brown eyes.
Five words that describe Hunter’s personality: Steady, patient, reliable, industrious, generous.
Resembles: Granger Smith
Inspiration for Hunter: Hunter is the type of guy who stays in a small town because he loves the things it offers – hay fields, forests, fishing holes. He isn’t happy unless he’s doing something useful with his hands, and he’s the kind of guy everyone calls when they need help.
Hunter is one of those rare men who stays put even after his family leaves and he has no one tying him to the place. In his case, along with the land itself, it’s his friendships that cause him to stay. And the impossible hope that he might one day catch the eye of a particular girl.
Quirks: He can’t live without his ballcap, wears Levi’s every single day, and always keeps his granddad’s dog tags around his neck.
He’s most relaxed when: He’s on the dock at the old farmhouse, nursing a cold drink.
The thing he regrets most: The last words he can’t take back.
Gatlin Moore
Age: 28
Brief Physical Description: Gatlin is a little over 6 foot, muscular build, dark brown eyes and hair, and he’s never clean shaven.
Five words that describe Gatlin’s personality: Observant, devoted, artistic, passionate, playful.
Resembles: Sam Hunt
Inspiration for Gatlin: Gatlin is the small-town guy who had big dreams but ended up back in his hometown because his family needed him. He walks the fine line of loving the place and having fond memories of his upbringing, but trying to come to terms with the fact that his life may never look like what he imagined.
In spite of the fact that he planned on writing music for a living, Gat finds himself fixing fences, mowing hay, and herding cattle. The most difficult part of the gig is working with his dad, because although they butt heads a good deal of the time, he still has a great deal of respect for him and knows his dad is just as much a victim of circumstance as himself.
The thing he regrets most: Nothing has worked out like he planned, but he has no regrets.
Most influential person in his life: His mom. She’s the calming influence between Gat and his dad, and the voice of reason when he needs a little sense knocked into him.
It’s karaoke night. Gatlin would… Take his guitar up to the stage and play covers for an hour or two. Music is his passion, but don’t ask him to sing that song. He won’t.
