Tenth Day
Welcome to the tenth day of Christmas reads. I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end already! And we’ve already had some winners, too, so congratulations to those readers. As usual, there’ll be links to previous posts at the bottom of this one, but right now I’m going to introduce you to today’s guest author: Erynn Mangum!

~ Christmas with Erynn Mangum ~

Favourite Christmas carol/hymn – Can I say all of them? Ha! I LOVE Christmas music. Often, I start listening to it in October. I love how it’s the only time of the year that you can hear the gospel being played in public places and on public radio.
Yes! I often wonder whether people think about the words they’re singing when they sing Christmas carols, but I hadn’t thought about it from the point of view of so many people unwittingly proclaiming the Gospel in public!
Favourite Christmas food – While I was growing up, we always had a huge Christmas dinner for lunch on Christmas day and I love it. We basically do another Thanksgiving meal, except we add sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies to the mix. It’s the best. My grandmother and mom always made homemade soft caramels – and now I do too! It makes the whole house smell like Christmas.
Oh, yum. Caramel is my weakness!
What’s one of your family’s Christmas traditions? – One thing my husband and I have done with our kids ever since my oldest was a toddler is giving new Christmas pajamas every year. They get to open one gift on Christmas Eve, and it’s always new jammies for them to wear that night. So much fun!
I’ve heard of a few people with that tradition. What a great idea!
This year, I’ll be celebrating Christmas with . . . My brother and sister-in-law and niece and nephew are all coming in town from California, so we are going to be piling in with them, my other brother and his family and my sister in my parents’ house. It’s going to be nuts because there are now sixteen of us all together! I love it!
The more, the merrier!
This Christmas, I’m most looking forward to . . . The chaos of cousins running around, the yummy food everywhere and visiting with my family. We are rarely all in the same room together anymore so I’m really excited for that. And I’m SO excited to snuggle my new little niece and nephew – the last time my brothers both had newborns at Christmas, my daughter had just been born three days before, so I was a little out of it after the c-section. 😉 I’m so excited to hold babies and then give them back and go sleep all night. Ha!
Lol! I never thought I would actually get to that stage (the wanting to give them back part), but . . . yeah. 😊 And you’d think with SEVEN siblings or siblings-in-law, at least ONE of them could arrange to have a baby for me to cuddle…  😉
Send a brief Christmas message to all your readers: I hope this Christmas finds you surrounded by loved ones and delicious treats, but most of all, I pray this Christmas you come to the manger and see that it’s filled with hope. Jesus came, not so we can have all the pretty, sparkly, lit things like we – and especially I – love to put around our houses this time of year. He came to bring us hope. “A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices.” I’ve been thinking about those lyrics a lot lately. Our world is so weary and Jesus brought us the thrill of hope – the promise that this isn’t it! I pray that you come to a deeper understanding of Jesus and what He did on the cross, but also what He did in the manger.

Bree Sanderson is the third generation owner of a Christmas Tree Farm and she could not love it more. With sales soaring and the Farm’s fame spreading, the Sandersons’ are already stretched tight for employees. When Bree’s dad gets sick right in the middle of the busy season, Bree is forced to hire a new Santa, who turns out to be a very nice, very cute, very single guy. Is God finally bringing someone to the Farm that could potentially meet Bree under the mistletoe? Or is this Christmas going to bring something even more unexpected?

I LOVE Erynn’s statement: “come to the manger.” If you just think for a moment how humble that beginning was: smelly animals, straw, cow slobber, probably dirt, dust and dander.
She would be new to me. I appreciate the interview & giveaway opportunity. Merry Christmas!

I haven’t yet read any of Erynn’s books but the Christmas novella looks really good. It would be fun to win a copy. Thanks for the giveaway.
