Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed!

Happy Easter and welcome to the Weekend Book Buzz! I hope you’ve had a wonderful time celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour this weekend.

I have two sick children at the moment, so I had to improvise and put on some of my favourite Easter hymns at home rather than attend our Easter service this year, but disappointed though I was, I couldn’t help reflecting on Notre Dame, closed to worshippers this Easter for the first time in centuries, and later, as news reports began coming in, those who have been bombed in Sri Lanka.

It puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? But these things also stand as vivid reminders of the very reason Christ came and suffered on our behalf. Whilstever this world endures, there will be illness, there will be loss, there will be hatred, and there will be death. But because Christ rose again from the dead, we can look forward to the promise of Revelation 21:4, a time when “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (NIV)

What a blessed future to look forward to! My prayer for you this Easter is that you will hold fast to that promise. It may not feel like it at times, but our suffering in this world IS temporary. Christ HAS won the victory. Alleluia!
