Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Books I Want to Reread

Posted 1 December 2020 by Katie in Top Ten Tuesday / 11 Comments

Happy Tuesday, reading friends. It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Books I Want to Read Again, which is right up my alley. I know there are plenty of readers who don’t understand rereading—what’s the point if you know what’s going to happen? But for me, rereading a favourite book is like listening to a favourite piece of music. Knowing how it goes in your head isn’t anywhere near as satisfying as actually hearing it—or reading it, in the case of a book.

Mind you, when there are so many great books releasing all the time, the pressure is on to work out how to allocate your time, and sadly, rereading often gets pushed aside in favour of new reads, but sometimes the anticipation makes the reread just that little bit sweeter.

THE BLUE CASTLE
L.M. Montgomery

I will never tire of rereading this book. It’s everything. And there is so much unexpected and deliciously dry humour. I simply adore it.

FARO’S DAUGHTER
Georgette Heyer

This happened to be the first Heyer I read, and it’s still one of my favourites. I love the way Max and Deborah go head to head, and in Heyer’s inimitable style, it never loses its entertainment value.

DAVID COPPERFIELD
Charles Dickens

Dickens is one of those writers I reread for the joy of studying his writing. I love his characters, his descriptions, the way he expresses thing. And David Copperfield has some definite humour in it with characters like Mr Micawber and Betsy Trotwood.

TURTLES IN THE ROAD
Rhonda & Kaley Rhea

Speaking of humour, this is one of my go-to humour rereads. Never fails to make me laugh, and I still nearly die laughing during that turtle hunt. 🤣

WORTH THE FALL
Bria Quinlan

This is another romcom reread. This whole series is rereadable, but this one is my favourite. So much of the humour is in the delivery, which means I’m drawn to it again and again like a magnet.

FEARLESS
Tamara Leigh

Tamara Leigh is such a wordsmith it’s a pleasure to reread her books simply for the joy of admiring her turns of phrase. But I also can’t help getting caught up in the story all over again, and this is one of my favourites from her current Age of Conquest series, so I’m keen to give this one its first reread.

DAWN OF VENGEANCE
Ronie Kendig

This book doesn’t actually release until next week, but I had the privilege of reading it a few times on its road to publication. And I can’t wait to read it again. This book just gets into your blood, no matter how many times you’ve read it, and before you know it, you’re addicted!

A CURIOUS BEGINNING
Deanna Raybourn

Rereading this one is all about the characters and the dialogue. They’re brilliant! Unique, intelligent, fascinating. Except I think I want to reread this at a time when I can binge the whole series, because I haven’t read the rest yet and I REALLY want to!

THE MATRIMONIAL ADVERTISEMENT
Mimi Matthews

Mimi Matthews has become a favourite author, and I loved the Gothic atmosphere in this novel, so what better way to fill in the time waiting for her next release than by rereading some of her backlist?

STRONG POISON
Dorothy L. Sayers

Ah, Lord Peter Wimsey. One of my all-time favourite characters, especially when Harriet Vane is on the scene. Dorothy L. Sayers is an exceptionally intelligent writer, and I adore her nuanced portrayal of these equally intelligent characters. This is the book which introduces Harriet Vane, and it’s too long since I’ve read it!

Are you a rereader? What are you hankering to reread?

Totally agree with your rereads of Tamara Leigh and Ronie Kendig. They don’t disappoint no matter if it’s the first or fifth time I’ve read their books.

  2. I really, really want to read the Speedwell books!! I just purchased the first 3 over the last couple months and just need to do it. I don’t typically re-read because I just want to get my TBR down… but I do understand why anyone would want to! There are some books that I would really like to re-read and maybe one day! 🙂
