Top Ten Tuesday – Fictional Travel For Those Stuck at Home

Posted 24 March 2020 by Katie in Christian Fiction, Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post, thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s prompt is a genre freebie—which I’ve pretty much treated as a complete topic freebie. As most of you reading this post are likely stuck at home thanks to Covid-19, I figured there was no better time for a list of books that will take you far away from those four walls you keep staring at!

Many of these novels involve travel by the main character(s), but some are simply set in another time and place. I’ve stuck to non English-speaking cultures and have included a variety of genres from romance through to suspense, historical through to contemporary, so there should be something here for everyone!

Egypt & Sinai Peninsula: Where We Belong by Lynn Austin
Italy: A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay
Vienna: Love in Three Quarter Time by Rachel McMillan

Victorian England to Colonial India: A Modest Independence by Mimi Matthews
India & Hungary: The Enlightenment of Bees by Rachel Linden

Revolutionary France: The Seamstress by Allison
England to China: All the Tea in China by Jane Orcutt
South Africa: Child of the River by Irma Joubert

Afghanistan: Hawk by Ronie Kendig
Saudi Arabia: Singing in Babylon by Ann Gaylia O’Barr

Have any other great destinations I can travel to literarily? I’d love to hear your recommendations!

I’m about to step into King’s Falling by Kendig. I started reading it before all this craziness happened and I’m just now being able to delve back in. I know I’ll be sucked into another world for sure!
