Welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday, brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Books That Have Been on My TBR the Longest. In my world, that probably translates to Books That Have Been on My TBR So Long I’ve Forgotten They’re Even There, which makes it slightly difficult to create a list, but I’ve been giving it some heavy thought, trawling through the bowels of my book memory (not to mention my Kindle!) and here’s what I’ve come up with:
The next three books are from series that I read the first book of years ago—and really loved!—but somehow just haven’t gotten around to reading the rest yet. I read the first book of Tamara Leigh’s The Feud series when it released three years ago (and loved it, of course), but somehow didn’t get around to the next ones in the series. (Yes, I know Tamara Leigh seems to feature every week lately. No, she’s not paying me! 😆) I also read the first books in Sibella Giorello’s Raleigh Harmon suspense series and M.K. Gilroy’s Kristen Conner Mystery series (if you’re a suspense lover, particularly FBI, give these a go!) several years ago, and haven’t got around to the rest yet. I really need to change that!
Camille Eide and Kristen Heitzmann are both authors I discovered several years ago and really enjoyed, and I’ve been meaning to read Eide’s Like a Love Song and the whole Michelli Family series by Heitzmann ever since, but somehow they just never make it to the top of the pile either. *sigh*
For these last four books, I trawled way back to the beginning of my Kindle days and found some books that I purchased several years ago, but just haven’t gotten around to reading yet. The Swiss Courier interests me because it’s WWII; Bonnie Leon’s Sydney Cove series is set in Australia—how could I resist that? I have heard a lot about Jen Turano’s historicals, but am yet to read one, and this is the earliest one I had on my Kindle; and the premise of Jane Orcutt’s All the Tea in China sounds intriguing: a young Englishwoman who leaves her comfortable life behind for the life of a missionary in the Far East.
I loved Penman, Gilroy, and Giorello’s books. Along with the others you have some great reading ahead of you.
I’m sure I do. As soon as I can find the time to fit them all in! 😄

Secrets, The Swiss Courier, To Love Anew, and After a Fashion have also been waiting on my kindle for a long time! Several of the others are on my want to read list.

I’ve read Baron of Emberly and strongly suggest that it goes to the top of your pile ASAP!! I really enjoyed M.K. Gilroy’s Kristen Conner Mystery series and wish more were coming out. His writing from a female’s perspective is spot on. It’s been years since I read Kristen Heitzmann Michelli Family series, but it’s Kristen Heitzmann so you know you’re in for an emotional roller coaster. You MUST read Jen Turano’s books soon. They are HILARIOUS!!! I meet her at CFRR last year and she was as delightful as her books.
You’re right. I’m definitely going to have to move these out from the bottom of the pile!
I’m not generally a mystery/suspense reader, but I love Sibella Giorello’s Raleigh Harmon series. Also, I second Amy’s suggestion on the Baron of Emberly. The whole series is excellent (what else do you expect from Tamara Leigh). You can’t go wrong reading any of Jen Turano’s novels. I classify them as screwball historical comedy. I read Bonnie Leon’s Australia series years ago.

The Sunne in Splendor is one of my most favorite books ever written. Sharon Kay Penman is a serious researcher and a gifted writer, and definitely one of my most favorite authors to read. I read that book years ago, but can still vividly depict the final scenes. It’s an amazing book. And, definitely not what Shakespeare depicted in his play.
I totally fell in love with her books after reading When Christ and His Saints Slept. Absolutely awesome historical writer! I think Sunne in Splendour and King’s Ransom are the only ones I have left to read.
