Top Ten Tuesday – Favourite Character Names

Happy Tuesday, book lovers! This week’s topic from That Artsy Reader Girl is Best Character Names. Rather a subjective topic, and with the exception of the first three books on this list, I had no idea what names I would include! The biggest obstacle was separating the names from the characters they represented, because I naturally gravitated to the names of my favourite characters. But in the end, I think I’ve managed to come up with a reasonable list. Let me know what you think!

Best of 2017 – The Emoji Files, Part II: The LOL Awards

Welcome to Part II of my Best of 2017 series: The Emoji Files. You can find our more about this series in yesterday’s Part I post, which also includes the Swoony Awards, so I highly recommend you check it out! As you might well imagine from the title, today’s list contains books that I read in 2017 that tickled my funny bone. The humour in these stories raised everything from a wry smile to a gut-busting belly laugh.

First Line Friday – 10 November 2017 – Death at Thorburn Hall (Julianna Deering)

Welcome to another edition of First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books. This week I’m featuring the next adventure from my favourite amateur detective, Drew Farthering. He and Madeline are off to the British Open, but they get a little bit more than they bargained on during this trip! Death at Thorborn Hall released on Tuesday 7 November, and not only did I review this book (you can read my review here), but Drew actually came to visit me on the blog! 😍 I may have been just be a little giddy! But for now, here’s the details of his latest adventure.

Interview with Drew Farthering!

Are you a fan of detective stories? I am. It started with series like The Famous Five and Trixie Beldon, moved on a bit to Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys in my pre-teen and early teen years, and then developed even further to a love of Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers novels in my mid-teens. And then I discovered Drew Farthering through his first adventure, Rule of Murder, and I knew I had found a new favourite. That’s why I’m SO excited to have him right here on my blog chatting with me! But first, a little bit about

Top Ten Tuesday – Book Boyfriends

Well! This is quite possibly the most difficult Top Ten Tuesday post I have ever had to put together, because the topic for this week from the girls at The Broke and the Bookish is Top Ten Book Boyfriends. Now, I’m a happily married, strictly monogamous woman, but I’m sure you can all relate to having developed a little crush on (okay, maybe flat-out swooned over) characters you’ve met in books. Today is all about those characters! But there’s just one problem. Do you know how many books I’ve read in my lifetime? (Seriously, because I think it would be kind

Top Ten Tuesday – My Fall (*ahem* Spring) TBR

I’m back to Top Ten Tuesday after a two-week hiatus! And this week’s topic from the girls at The Broke and the Bookish is one of those topics that I don’t even pretend to limit myself to a mere ten books! However, I have managed to be somewhat restrained. Limiting this list to books that are actually releasing between September and November went a long way towards that restraint! And obviously, this is actually my Spring TBR, because here in the antipodes, spring is in the air! September    Read my reviews for Crown of Souls, A New Shade of Summer,
