Top Ten Tuesday – Favourite Book Quotes

Happy Tuesday to you all! This week’s topic from That Artsy Reader Girl has result in several hours of getting lost in some of my favourite reads, because we’re discussing favourite book quotes. And if I wasn’t in the habit of highlighting things on my Kindle as I read, I probably wouldn’t even be writing this right now; I’d STILL be lost reliving some of my favourite bookish moments on the quest for quotes to share. It’s a tough life, hey? 😉 But I’ve managed to rein myself in just in time. This is by no means a definitive list, and

Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Need to Read Again

Hello, book lovers! Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday brought to you by That Artsy Read Girl. Today’s official topic is Books I Really Liked But Can’t Remember Anything/Much About. In my world, that translates to Books I Really Need to Read Again, hence my tweaking of the topic today. And if I was going to give today’s topic a subtitle, it would be Hurrah for Goodreads! 😃 I mean, this topic is like saying, “Quick, tell me all the things you’ve forgotten.” 😵 So, yeah. Goodreads to the rescue!

It’s like the old year has finished, but the new one hasn’t yet arrived, and you can sit back and imagine the possibilities. What will the new year hold? What new goals will you set? Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Loved More Than I Thought I Would

It’s Tuesday! And that means another Top Ten list brought to you by the girls at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s topic is ‘Books that you loved less/more than you thought you would.’ I thought the positive side of this topic would make for a much cheerier post than the negative, so without further ado, I present my list of books that I loved more than I thought I would: The Hunger Games Trilogy – Suzanne Collins I’ll start with the controversial one! I have heard many people commenting along the lines of ‘I’ll never read that book,’

Best of 2016!

Well, you could be forgiven for thinking I have dropped off the face of the earth over Christmas.  I may live in Australia, but December definitely snowballed on me this year.  Please accept my belated wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy new year. 🎄🎉 Amidst all of the December busyness, I have been giving thought to my favourite reads over the year.  Let me tell you, it is a daunting business, coming up with a blog post about your favourite reads for the year.  For starters I read around 250 books this year 😳  Secondly, different books stick

The Promise of Jesse Woods (Chris Fabry) – Review

Publisher’s Description The summer of 1972 was the most pivotal of Matt Plumley’s childhood. While his beloved Pirates battle for back-to-back World Series titles, Matt’s family moves from Pittsburgh to Dogwood, West Virginia, where his father steps into the pulpit of a church under the thumb of town leader Basil Blackwood. A fish out of water, Matt is relieved to forge a fast bond with two unlikely friends: Dickie Darrel Lee Hancock, a mixed-race boy, and Jesse Woods, a tough-as-nails girl with a sister on her hip and no dad in sight. As the trio traipses the hills and

Delightful Descriptions

Well, I haven’t had one of these posts for a while, but I finished reading Chris Fabry’s latest release, The Promise of Jesse Woods, yesterday, and found myself chuckling over some of the descriptions and the pithy observations made by the characters.  Make sure to watch for my review in the next couple of days! Anyway, if you have ever been involved in choirs or singing – participating or merely observing – or even if you just have a love of music, you will most likely find this description tickles you as much as it tickled me.  The context is
