Welcome to another week of First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! I have a brand new contemporary romance for you today that I absolutely adored! You can read my review here. If you haven’t discovered Crystal Walton yet, do yourself a favour and pick up one of her books!
Carrie over at Reading is my Superpower is featuring the first line of this book on her blog today, and it’s a real teaser! So I’m going to put the second line for you in my post today. You can let me know whether it answers some of your questions, or just raises more!
~ About the Book ~
When a case of mistaken identity spirals into a more-than-complicated pretend relationship, an adventure seeker and a grammar fanatic just might’ve met each other’s match.
Three weeks. That’s all the time self-made billionaire Cooper Anderson has to respond to discovering he’s a single dad, sell his lake house, and catch a one-way ticket across the world. The quick-witted nanny responding to his ad couldn’t be more of a life saver … and maybe a nice distraction. Until the secrets she’s hiding get a little too close to exposing his own.
The one lead guaranteeing Quinn Thompson a promotion just has to land her back in her hometown to finagle an interview out of Mr. Elusive, of all people. But she can hack it, right? Even while mistaken for the nanny, she can keep things quick and professional. No running into her embarrassing Southern family, no stirring up the wounds that’d sent her packing four years ago, and definitely no melting over a stockbroker’s unfair dimples and boyish charm.
Why, oh, why doesn’t anything ever go according to plan?
With both their deadlines closing in before they’re ready, Quinn and Cooper must decide whether the life they’re set on pursuing alone is worth more than the one they could be missing together.
~ First Second Line ~
The speed, the distance—it should’ve been enough,
should’ve let him outrace the regret.
What do you think? Does it answer the first line, or just raise more questions?
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
Interesting second line. I love the mystery it build – what regrets??
Cora ❤ http://www.teapartyprincess.co.uk/
You’ll have to read it and find out! 😉
My guess would be that it raises more questions. Happy Friday!
It seems so, from the responses. *insert diabolical laugh*
I clicked on the link for your page first, and then jumped over to Carries to read the lines in order. Yes, it leaves more questions than answers. I just purchased this book yesterday, and I can’t wait to read it. I do have several books stacked ahead of it. Maybe it will just make me read faster!
The first line on my blog this week is from Toni Shiloh’s latest book ‘Returning Home’. I’ll share with you here a book that I just started reading last night.
June 1811
A London lady never sallied forth unchaperoned. Least of all to a place with the reputation of Vauxhall Gardens. — First Comes Marriage by Amanda Barratt
The Regency Brides Collection
Hope you get to read it soon!
“Fairies will not be rushed.” This is the first line from the Prologue in “The Cottingley Secret,” by Hazel Gaynor. Happy Reading!
Love it!
Whoa. That line just leaves a lot of questions. Looks like I’m going to need to purchase this one. 🙂
I’m featuring Lu. by Beth Troy on my blog today, but here I shall share the book I’m currently reading.
“They rode in silence, the murmur of Alex’s expensive late-model white SUV lulling Astrid into drowsiness.”
-Colors of Christmas by Olivia Newport
Happy Weekend!
Definitely worth purchasing! 🙂
Happy Friday! I want to share the first line from the first chapter instead of from the prologue: (This is a REALLY fun book to read!)
A New Shade of Summer by Nicole Deese:
“I jiggled the locked doorknob again and wished, not for the first time, that it was legal to use tranquilizer darts on adolescent boys.”
Hehe! I love that line, and I loved the book! Enjoy 🙂
Eeep! I wish I could have squeezed this one in during our vacation! Now I have to wait until I write all those reviews! *sigh* #bookblogprobs
Lol. That was my first thought when I heard how many books you managed to read. Oy, the reviews! 😄
Only a fellow book blogger can truly appreciate the both the joy and pain of binge reading, lol!
Definitely interesting. The book I’m featuring on my blog is Perfectly Matched by Maggie Brendan. However, the book I will share here is Fire and Ice by Mary Connealy. “The bullet spit dirt up in Gage Coulter’s eyes, and he didn’t even flinch.”
Tough guy!
My first line this week is: The Sinai Desert 1890
Rebecca Hawes lay awake in her tent, convinced that the howling wind was about to lift her entire camp into the air and hurl it to the far side of the desert.
Where We Belong by Lynn Austin
Happy Friday!
Loved this one!
I shared the first line of April McGowan’s Hold the Light today.
Here’s the first line of the book I just finished reading
“How can I help?”
from The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay
Ooh! Can’t wait to read this one!
Hmm. . . definitely adds mystery to it. Happy Friday!
Excellent!
Intriguing….Can’t wait to read more! Happy Friday!

Mike Dolan was snoring when the telephone rang. Fly Away by Lynn Austin
I enjoyed Fly Away. Hope you do, too 🙂
This second line DEFINITELY raises more questions!!!!
Here’s the first line from a book I happily flipped through again this past week: A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay.
“Piccolo. The restaurant matched its name-a tiny and delicate white stucco building with a short, neat brick wall leading from its front door to the parking lot.”
Oh, I love Portrait of Emily Price ❤️
I think it raises more questions. The first couple of lines sound sad. Happy weekend!
Yeah, the first chapter isn’t his happy place. Luckily it gets better. Much better! 😉
Awesome second line! And the book description sounds like it’s right up my alley.
I’m reading The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips. Here’s the first line:
Hanna Knight clicked the Power button on the radio as she inched the Dodge Ram pickup down the snow-covered highway. Embarrass, Minnesota, was only a few miles farther.
Okay, so I had to include that second sentence because Embarrass as a place name? That’s even weirder than Iola (Iola, Wisconsin, and Iola, Kansas. I’ll have to visit one day).
I’ve often been amused by the place names that came up in that ‘Love Finds You In…’ series. But then again, I’m not sure I can talk, with our Wagga Wagga, Wangi, Wooloomooloo, Woodenbong and so on!
Happy Monday!
It was, thank you 🙂
