Happy Friday, reader friends. It’s time for First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books and this week I’m sharing the first line of a book I am not-so-patiently waiting to read: The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan. London, churches, and music, oh my! It was almost too much temptation just reading the first line!
About the Book
The secrets that might save a nation could shatter a marriage.
Madly in love, Diana Foyle and Brent Somerville married in London as the bombs of World War II dropped on their beloved city. Without time for a honeymoon, the couple spent the next four years apart. Diana, an architectural historian, took a top-secret intelligence post at Bletchley Park. Brent, a professor of theology at King’s College, believed his wife was working for the Foreign Office as a translator when he was injured in an attack on the European front.
Now that the war is over, the Somervilles’ long-anticipated reunion is strained by everything they cannot speak of. Diana’s extensive knowledge of London’s churches could help bring down a Russian agent named Eternity. She’s eager to help MI6 thwart Communist efforts to start a new war, but because of the Official Secrets Act, Diana can’t tell Brent the truth about her work.
Determined to save their marriage and rebuild the city they call home, Diana and Brent’s love is put to the ultimate test as they navigate the rubble of war and the ruins of broken trust.
First Line
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
Life was not unlike the wisp of fog that curled around the base of a grave marker, softly caressing the marble before dissolving into the violet shadows of the night. From The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus by Jaime Jo Wright.

Well… that’s interesting… hm… mind you, I’m not sure you can recover from the absence of something that isn’t something you actively do yourself.
Happy Friday! My first (2) line(s) is from “Hope for Christmas” by Dr. Elizabeth Maddrey:
“Cyan Hewitt stared out at the waves of the Pacific Ocean. The pebbly beach on Whidbey Island wasn’t comfortable for sitting, so he’d found himself doing a lot of standing on mornings when the sea called to him.”
Great first line!
Mine is from Alexis by Dianne Harman…….
Alexis sat back in her chair and stared at Bob and Nina, not believing what she’s just heard. After several moments she cleared her throat and said in a voice that was clearly fighting back tears “You’re giving me weight loss surgery for my annual bonus? Seriously?” she asked.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading!📚💜

I’m currently reading Tomorrow’s Shining Dream by Naomi Rawlings.
“Daniel shifted in his saddle, causing a drop of sweat to roll down his back.”
I hope you have a great weekend. 🙂❤📚
My first line is from The Edge of Belonging a debut book by Amanda Cox.

People considered him homeless because he didn’t have an address of his own, but Harvey James would’ve been homeless even if he owned the turreted mansion off State Route 460.
I shared this one this week too! #greatminds 😉 I on the other hand was TOO tempted to continue since I’d just finished another book and so now I am officially reading it too haha
