Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. My first line today comes from a book whose hero and heroine definitely do not hit it off from their first meeting—or for several meetings after that, for that matter! Janet W. Ferguson’s Star Rising released on 4 January 2020 and is my current read. I’m still waiting for Star and Paul to simmer down!
About the Book
Star Youngblood has always been a fighter–a necessity after her mother married a monster of a man. Now, she’s finally on the path to the stable life she’s always wanted. Her employer, Priscilla Kelly, is a sweet woman ravaged by rheumatoid arthritis, and Star will do anything to help her. Even if that means going toe to toe with Mrs. Kelly’s neglectful son.
After being betrayed on the mission field and devastated by the tragic death of his father, Paul Kelly gave up on God. He lives life on his own terms, biding his time as a corporate pilot until he can save enough money to begin his own flight school closer to home. His mother is all he has left, and he wants to be near her. He just didn’t expect her health to decline so quickly. When he discovers his mother has taken in a stray—a woman he’s not at all sure can be trusted—his protective instincts kick into high gear. Paul’s handled a lot of turbulence, but he’s never gone up against a force like Star.
As Paul and Star strive to protect his mother in their own ways, they soon find their own hearts are at the greatest risk.

Today on my blog I am sharing the first few lines from The Blizzard Bride by Susie Dietze: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2020/01/10/first-line-fridays-118/. I’m still working my way through this fun novel, so I will share another line or two from The Blizzard Bride.
“‘Forgive, forget, forgive, forget.’ The words formed a rhythmic refrain in Abby’s head, in time to the beat played by the group of fiddles and banjos Saturday evening at Mayor Carpenter’s birthday party.”
I hope you have an excellent weekend filled with relaxing reading time. 🙂❤️📚
“She should have paid more attention to her longtime neighbor, Oliver Schneider, when she passed him on the road at dawn.” Echoes Among the Stones by Jaime Jo Wright
I’m reading this one soon!
Sweet!!
Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing the first line from Coral by Sara Ella: “Her soul was bleeding.”

Happy Friday! I’m sharing from Volition by Chautona Havig on my blog today. Here is the first line from Chapter 18:
“For a week, I read my Bible, prayed like I’d never prayed before, and tried to ignore the skeleton that had moved into my closet.”
I’m reading this book now (and also shared it on my FLF post). I love the cover!
I hope you like it!!
Thank you!! Sorry I’m behind on seeing this! I hope you enjoy!
I think that’s probably my fault. With all that’s been going on with our house moving and getting ready for demolition, I think I forgot to share the post on social media… 😬☺️ Glad you did see it eventually!
I can imagine! You have so much going on!
