First Line Friday – Grace in Deep Waters (Christine Dillon)

Posted 19 July 2019 by Katie in Christian Fiction, Contemporary, First Line Fridays / 13 Comments

Happy Friday, book lovers, and welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books. I have a powerful read for you today. Christine Dillon’s novel Grace in Deep Waters releases on 25 July 2019, and if you enjoy stories of transformation, this one should definitely be on your TBR. It’s the third in a series, following on from Grace in Strange Disguise and Grace in the Shadows, and I strongly recommend you read the series in order to get the full impact of this book, but the whole series tells a compelling story, so it will be worth your while.

Grace in Deep Waters is also available for pre-order at the special price of $3.99, so grab it before it goes up!

About the Book

William Macdonald is at the pinnacle of his career. Pastor of a growing megachurch and host of a successful national radio programme. Clever and respected, he’s a man with everything, including a secret. His wife has left him and he can’t risk anyone finding out.

Blanche Macdonald is struggling. Her once rock-solid marriage is showing cracks. She promised to love her husband for better or for worse, but does loving always mean staying? Blanche desires to put God first. Not William. Not her daughter. Not herself.

When is a marriage over? When do you stand and fight?

Happy Friday! My first line is from “Kate’s Song” by Jennifer Beckstrand:

“Is he dead? Please tell me he’s not dead!”

  2. Ellie

I’m currently reading Andrew by Jennifer Beckstrand and LOVING IT! I loved the first line of chapter three so I’ll share that line. “Alfie Benaiah Petersheim, get that cat off my table!”

  3. I read book 1 in this series — it was excellent. I need to read the next 2!

I am currently reading an ARC of The Bridge Between by Lindsey Brackett. Here’s the first line — She still had trouble sleeping.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Happy Friday!

On my blog I’m sharing the first line from Underestimating Miss Cecelia by Carolyn Miller: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/07/18/first-line-friday-94/.

Today, I’m currently reading The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden. It’s an excellent story that I highly recommend! I’m just starting chapter 34, so I’ll share from there.

“Gray rarely took the time to read The Washington Post first thing in the morning.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend!!! 😀❤📚

  5. Ooooo, looks good! Here’s the first line from my current read, Just One Kiss by Courtney Walsh: “Carly Collins hated running late.”

  6. Iola

    I love Christine Dillon’s stories 🙂

I’m also sharing the first line from Underestimating Miss Cecelia on my blog today – it seems to be a popular choice!

I’m currently reading Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills. Here’s the first line:

Special Agent Leah Riesel scanned the headlines on her phone.

That’s a little underwhelming, but the first chapter includes a shoot-out in a hostage situation, so it ramps up the action quickly.

    Happy reading!

  7. Happy Friday! Since I’m sharing from chapter 1 of Yours Truly, Thomas by Rachel Fordham on my blog today, here is the first line from the prologue:

“After letting an involuntary squeal escape, Penny pulled the yellowed papers closer and pressed her lips to them.”

  8. Hope you enjoy it! I read and liked the first two in the series.

Today on my blog I shared the first line from Storm Rising by Ronie Kendig but I’m currently reading Fragments of Fear by Carrie Stuart Parks so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (8) here: “Marley was sitting by the door in the living room when Travis returned.” Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading time! 🙂

  9. This book is on my tbr list! I’m sharing on my blog the first line from At First Spark by Liwen Y. Ho.

Darren Spark never imagined that one person could make him feel so happy and sad all at the same time.

  10. My first line is from The Crossing of Cypress Creek by Pam Hillman
Natchez Under-the-Hill on the Mississippi River, August 1792
Caleb O’Shea jerked awake to utter stillness.

    Great series!
