Happy Friday, and welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books. This week I have a historical romance that will be releasing next Tuesday: Five Simple Gifts by Sondra Kraak. I’ve loved every book in this series so far, and I’m very much looking forward to diving into this one!
About the Book
Langley Taft is a firm believer in the narrow way. She trained to work alongside her father in their lumber dynasty and married the man of her parents’ choosing. A man who turned around and issued her a humiliating divorce. Left alone to raise her sister’s illegitimate son, she defies her family to do what she knows is right: deliver the baby to his father—even if that man is Wilder Monaghan, the irresponsible heir to a rival lumber company who lives on the other side of the country. And who happens to be the scoundrel she once fancied in her youth.
A lover of adventure, opportunity, and all things exciting, Wilder isn’t prepared for the surprise appearance of the son he thought was dead, or for the woman who shows up with her life shaded by unjust accusations but determined to help him raise his son. Parenting alongside the stringent Langley might be his most challenging adventure yet. Or his most rewarding, provided he can teach her how to have fun and in the process win her affections. But why would a studious, responsible woman like Langley Taft look twice at him, a reprobate trying to find his course back to the narrow way?
As secrets are revealed, driving a wedge between Wilder and Langley, they both must humble themselves to receive a gift they did not earn, a gift not bought with money or charm: the gift of a second chance.

This week on my blog I shared the first line from Backlash by Rachel Dylan but I’m currently reading Under the Tulip Tree by Michelle Shocklee so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (22) here: “Jael arrived home. She had news.” Hope you have a good weekend with some quality reading time! 🙂
Happy Friday! My first line is from “Once Upon an Irish Summer” by Wendy Wilson Spooner:
“I watched her long red hair blow wildly about her frame as I shouted with all my strength, ‘Mary Ann! Step back!’ But she couldn’t hear my voice.”
Happy Friday!!
OOh another new to me author! I’ll be adding this one to my list too!
Over on my blog I am sharing the first line from Expecting Danger by Jennifer Pierce. “The hair on the back of Kate’s neck stood on end, and the feeling of being watched crawled along her skin
in goose bumps.”

I’m currently reading On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White. I ❤ it so much. Currently, I’m on chpt. 15 so I’ll share a line from there.
“For a long moment, Arabelle could only stare. Perhaps it was the fact that she’d only managed about three hours of sleep, but the image before her simply made no sense.”
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 🙂❤📚
My first line is from A Portrait of Loyalty by Roseanna White:

Lilian Blackwell held her breath and inched along the wall, praying with every footfall that Mama wouldn’t look up.
