Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books. I have something for lovers of Medieval settings today. I’ve just finished reading the first two books in what will be a four book series by Venessa Knizley. If you’re interested, keep a look out for my review, which will be up soon. In the meantime, let me introduce you to the first book in the series, Beneath Outstretched Arms.
~ About the Book ~

Velena ran a decent way from the gatehouse wall before finally stopping in an open field—no reason for stopping here, no reason at all. She felt alone, and that was enough.
Well, it’s from Chapter 1 (there’s a prologue), and it’s actually the first two lines, but that’s close enough, right? 😉

I had the pleasure of reading Holding the Fort so I could review it. From the very first line I was captivated.

I’m sharing from The House on Foster Hill by Jamie Jo Wright on my blog, but had to put it down because nighttime and suspense and a need to sleep. So I’m currently reading something a little lighter: Holding the Fort by Regina Jennings. Here’s the first line:

Just the kind of lighthearted read I enjoy! The weather forecast for the weekend is looking bright and sunny, so I’m planning to get back into The House on Foster Hill when the sun comes out 🙂

I read that book just over a year ago and did an interview with the author. The second one is awaiting me on my Kindle. I really liked it, and I don’t always enjoy Medieval Fiction.
I’m very keen to get my hands on the third one now. Glad you enjoyed it.
