Today, I’m sharing a much anticipated 2018 release that’s almost to the top of my TBR: Troubled Waters by Susan May Warren. If you’ve been following the Montana Rescue series, no doubt you’re anticipating Ian and Sierra’s story as much as I am!
~ About the Book ~
Billionaire Ian Shaw can have everything he wants–except a happy ending. Or at least that’s what it feels like with his fortune recently liquidated, his niece, Esme, still missing, and the woman he loves refusing to speak to him. In fact, he doubts she would date him even if they were stranded on a deserted island.
Despite her love for Ian, Sierra Rose knows he has no room in his life for her as long as the mystery of his missing niece goes unsolved. The only problem is, Sierra has solved it, but a promise to Esme to keep her whereabouts secret has made it impossible to be around Ian.
When the PEAK chopper is damaged and Sierra lacks the funds to repair it, Ian offers a fundraising junket for large donors on his yacht in the Caribbean. But the three-day excursion turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave cripples the yacht and sends the passengers overboard. Shaken up and soaked to the bone, Ian finally has a chance to test his theory when he and Sierra do indeed find themselves washed up on a strange, empty shore.
It will take guts and gumption for the PEAK team to rescue the duo. But it will take a miracle to rescue Ian and Sierra’s relationship.
~ First Line ~
Oh, this was a bad idea. Epically, abysmally, horrendously bad.
Anyone going to hazard any guesses as to what Sierra’s epically, abysmally, horrendously bad idea might be?
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
I’ve been on a romantic suspense kick for the last couple of weeks – Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason, and I’m sharing the first line from The View from Rainshadow Bay by Colleen Coble on my blog. I haven’t read this, but I suspect I should read the earlier books in the series first …
I’m currently reading Missing Isaac by Valerie Fraser Luesse. It’s her debut novel, and it’s brilliant! Here’s the first line:
A sleepy purple twilight wrapped around the farmhouse, its tall windows glowing with warmth from somewhere inside.
Oh dear! Another one to add to the TBR! Glad you’re enjoying it, though 😊
I have too! Funny thing is, I really try to not read the same genre one after another, but it happens anyway. 🙂
Such a great book! We just need Storm Front to release NOW so we can get Ty and Brett’s story….
My first line:
“Unless you get one of those miracles they’re always talking about at church, I don’t see how you’ll be able to keep the business open into spring.” – Weaver’s Needle by Robin Carroll
Definitely anticipating Storm Front. And then Pete and Jess’s story. But that makes the end of the series seem so close!
Weaver’s Needle is on my TBR. Must get to that!
All of the book releases are wonderful (and a bit daunting–how am I going to keep up?).
I’m featuring Valerie Fraser Luesse’s “Missing Isaac” over at my blog, but the first line of the book that is currently sitting in front of is:
“It was no surprise to me that I’d lost track of time.” (from A Song of Home by Susie Finkbeiner)
I know what you mean. #TheStruggleisReal!
I finished Troubled Waters this week, too. It is a great read!
My first line is from the Christian Young Adult book Bubbly Schnitzel by Meg Gonzales.
“Julia, this is a horrible idea.”
Haha. Sounds like she’s in the same spot as the heroine in my first line! Can’t wait to get to Troubled Waters. 😁
I always love a great Susan May Warren novel and now I cannot wait to read this. That first line draws me in want away, wanting to know what’s happening.
I’m sharing about Until We Find Home by Cathy Gohlke on the blog today, but since it’s the closest book to me since it’s what I’m currently reading, I’ll share it here as well.
May 1940
Lightning crackled, splitting the night sky over Paris, illuminating letters painted on the bookstore window across the street: La Maison de Amis Livres. Driving rain pounded the loose shutters of Shakespeare and Company, making them rattle so that Claire Stewart dropped the heavy blackout curtain into place.
Happy Friday!
Very atmospheric opening! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Happy Friday! Over on my blog this week, I’m featuring The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz (another amazing book!). My next book on the TBR stack just happens to be the feature book on Hoarding Books, so I won’t share an extra line in the comments this week. Have a wonderful weekend!
You have a great weekend too! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Adam Bryan pushed into the Magnolia Cafe and turned to wait for his younger sister Daisy. – Second Change Rose by Liz Talley (Christmas Roses by multiple authors)
Happy Friday!
Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend! 🙂
Great minds must think alike, because that is the first line I am sharing today. So I will share her first line from her next book Montana Rescue which will be released later this year, and I can’t wait!!!!
“Ty Remington blamed the homemade orange marmalade cake for why he found himself huddled under an overhang off some faraway path in Glacier National Park, shivering, praying he might live through the night.”
Oh, you have Storm Front already? Lucky duck! I figured someone else would be sharing Troubled Waters today, but there’s not such thing as too much exposure when it comes to books, is there? 😊
I don’t have Storm Front, just the teaser at the back of Troubled Waters. I wish I did, though! It’s always so hard to wait!!
Ahh, that makes more sense!
This book is next up on my list of To-Reads!
Today, I’m hosting Oath of Honor on my site. I just started it, so I’m only at chapter 3. So, here I will share the first couple of lines from that chapter.
“‘Kevin!’ But with the doors shut and the windows up, he wouldn’t hear her whispered shout. She should have lied and said the place was covered in cameras.”
Sounds like you have some good reading ahead, then. Enjoy!
Oh no! That doesn’t sound good! Happy Friday!
It doesn’t, does it? Can’t wait to see how it turns out, but since it’s at the beginning of the book, I’m guessing it might not turn out so good to start with!
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Have a great weekend 🙂
I am so far behind on Warren’s books. Must catch up. I’m featuring Oath of Honor over on my blog, but I’ll share Life on The Porcelain Edge by C.E. Hilbert here — Tessa Tarrington’s life was in the toilet.
Ooh! Intriguing. Love the connection between the title and the first line! 😆
I just finished Troubled Waters earlier this week and absolutely loved it. I am currently reading Just the Way You Are, which I am spotlighting on my blog today, so I am going to share the first line from the chapter I am on. Chapter 5 “What an evening! Eisley pried off her shoes and rubbed her sore heels, blinking her focus on the bedside clock, 2:07am. Crazy end to a crazier day.”
Just the Way You Are is a favourite of mine! Enjoy!
LOVE this book! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Ian + Sierra forever 😍
Death had a way of creeping up on a soul, and Ivy Thorpe was determined that when it visited her, she would not be surprised.
The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright
Can’t wait!!! And I loooooved The House on Foster Hill.
I love that line! And after reading all of the people say how much they loved this book in the comments, I’ll be adding it to my overflowing TBR!
I don’t think you’ll regret it!
**sigh** we’ve all been waiting for this book!
I just finished it today. WOWSER! Now I can’t wait for the rest of the series. Seriously addictive!
