Happy New Year, and welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! Do you have as many fantastic reads lined up for 2019 as I have? I can’t wait to dive in! But I’m doing something new this year, too. This year, I’ve decided to do a Reading Challenge—specifically, the Hope by the Book Reading Challenge! For my first challenge selection, I’ve chosen to read a biography, and I’m sharing the first line of the book I’ve chosen today: A Light So Lovely by Sarah Arthur.

When Alex dropped Ruth home after their lunch date, she went directly to her bedroom claiming a headache. I’d been making flapjacks with Edwin and Joel, and I chewed on a crispy corner piece as I watched the yellow car glide away down the lane. I guesed from Ruth’s headache that her outing with Alex hadn’t been a success.

My first lines come from a book I’m reading now, The Marriage Bargain by Stephanie Dees….
Cameron Quinn looked around the tiny town of Red Hill Springs. Big pots of pansies, twinkle lights in the trees lining the streets……apparently the basketball team at the local high school was doing well this year–the storefronts were full of team spirit. It had charm, he guessed, if you were a person who liked that down-home kind of stuff.
He wasn’t.

Why do I sense something’s about to happen to that latte? Maybe it’s just overactive reader imagination! Lol.
