I am both nervous and excited about today’s first line selection for you. If you have been following the Serena Jones series, you’ll know that there are two male characters who have an interest in Serena, but so far, Serena’s been somewhat oblivious to the romantic undercurrents (or in denial!) This is D-day folks! This is where we find out who Serena’s heart will turn to. And I’m not sure which is worse: the suspense of not knowing, or the disappointment for the man who will be let down. Aaarrrgggghhh!
More on that topic in days to come, but for today, let’s just look at the first line. Baby steps. Baby steps!

When her investigation propels her into danger, Serena must stay the course and solve this case before anyone else dies. But just how is she supposed to do that when the two men in her life arrive on the scene, bringing with them plenty of romantic complications–and even a secret or two?

I snatched my bag off the luggage carousel at Boston’s Logan International Airport and plunked it next to my parents as a sticky-fingered urchin tried to liberate the brightly colored ribbons I’d tied to the handles.

Your blog made me smile. I tried so hard to make the opening line “Don’t stare. It’s rude,” Serena’s mom scolded. Followed by “I’m paid to stare.” In keeping with the opening line mother references of the first two books, but…alas, this one seemed to need more setup. 😉

My first line is from Rediscovering Americanism by Mark R. Levin: “I often wonder what Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, John Adams, George Mason, Benjamin Franklin, and the other Founders would think about today’s America.
It’s an interesting question to ponder!
Can’t wait to read Over Maya Dead Body. I’m Team Tanner all the way, but am preparing myself for disappointment if Serena chooses Nate. Even so, I’ve enjoyed the books and the antics of all involved.
My first line comes from “Letters From Skye” by Jessica Brockmole: “Dear Madam, I hope you won’t think me forward, but I wanted to write to express my admiration for your book, ‘From Eagle’s Aerie’. The whole book is written through letter form and it’s been extremely interesting, but I fear heartbreak is right around the corner.
I think I’m probably erring on the side of Team Tanner, but they’re both such nice guys!
I’ve not yet read any of her books. I’ve been a little hesitant to read murder mystery because I have such an active imagination and often it leads to vivid dreams. Not sure if I want to dream of murder. My husband may not appreciate my need to have lights on all night long 😉

The first two novels–A Fool and His Monet; Another Day Another Dali–are strictly art crime mysteries. They don’t start with a dead body. Over Maya Dead Body is a Maya antiquities murder mystery. There’s nothing graphic in the book. She doesn’t even see the body, so yeah, it depends on your imagination. They are lighthearted, so I doubt you’d find them disturbing in any way.
