It’s that time of the week again—First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! Hopefully you’re all having a wonderful Thanksgiving time with family and friends. I also hope you aren’t still feeling the effects of having indulged a little too much, because otherwise First Line Friday might tip you over the edge this week! You see, we’ve got a food theme going, and so I’ve chosen to take my first line from the second book in Liz Johnson’s Prince Edward Island Dreams series: Where Two Hearts Meet.
~ About the Book ~
Evocative Contemporary Romance Set in a Charming Inn on Beautiful Prince Edward Island
In her kitchen at the Red Door Inn, executive chef Caden Holt is calm, collected, and competent. But when her boss asks her to show off their beautiful island to impress a visiting travel writer and save the inn, Caden is forced to face a world much bigger than her kitchen–and a man who makes her wish she was beautiful.
Journalist Adam Jacobs is on a forced sabbatical on Prince Edward Island. He’s also on assignment to uncover a story. Instead he’s falling in love with the island’s red shores and Caden’s sweets.
When Caden discovers Adam isn’t who she thought he was, she realizes that the article he’s writing could do more than ruin the inn’s chances for survival–it might also break her heart.
Readers will discover hope for the hurting, joy for the broken, and romance for the lonely at the enchanting Red Door Inn.
~ First Line ~
There was only one thing better than the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls in the morning.
Do you know what that one thing is? While you’re thinking about it, you could check out my review here.
I’d love it if you’d share the first line of whatever you’re currently reading in the comments. And don’t forget, you can find out what other bloggers are sharing for First Line Friday by going over to Hoarding Books blog and finding all the links. If you’ve got your own blog, why not join in and add your link over there. 🙂
I still need to read this, but that first line is mouthwatering!
Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!
I’m sharing about One Enchanted Noel by Melissa Tagg over at my blog today, but I’m going to share the first line from the book I’m currently reading, The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay.
“How can I help?”
Happy Weekend!
Oh, I loved both of those books. Happy reading!
Happy Weekend!
As the days grow shorter, some faces grow long. But not mine. Every autumn, when the wind turns cold and darkness comes early, I am suddenly happy. It’s time to start making soup again. – Leslie Newman
Dear Neil,
I’ve started this e-mail sever times, and I know that doesn’t mean a lot because you’ve yet to receive a completed draft, but it’s true.- Together at the Table by Hillary Manton Lodge
I need to get myself a copy of that book. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Happy Friday! My first line is from A Match of Wits by Jen Turano:
“Sometimes, no matter how independent and self-assured a young lady believes herself to be, certain situations demand a good dose of screaming.”
Haha! Great first line!
I know what’s better! 😉
Here’s the first line of the next book I’ll be reading: “An explosion brought Cole Boden to his feet.” – Too Far Down by Mary Connealy.
I don’t blame him! I’d be on my feet too!
This was an enjoyable, filled with lots of great food.
My first line today is from Chasing Christmas by Shanna Hatfield, “Heck, no! Are you insane?”
Love that first line!
I read and enjoyed the first book in this series. I somehow missed this one, so thanks for the reminder!
I’m sharing the first line from The Carpenter’s Daughter by Jennifer Rodewald on my blog, which was brilliant. I’m currently reading Holding the Fort by Regina Jennings. Here’s the first line:
“The fumes of the gaslights at the foot of the state protected Louisa Bell from the more noxious odors of her audience.”
I’m enjoying it so far!
Haha! I’m looking forward to Regina’s new one!
A dirty, callused hand slapped down over my mouth and the stale breath of a man hissed in my ear.

Ooh. Great opening!
