Happy First Line Friday everyone! I’m still on the road with the family, on the last day of our trip to Melbourne. It’s been a busy, but fun time, and tonight we will be home with all the fun of unpacking to take care of! But before all of that, I have a very special guest to introduce to you, all the way from Moss Vale in New South Wales, about three hours south of my home:

That’s right! This morning I met up with Carolyn Miller, author of the Regency romances The Elusive Miss Ellison, which came out in February of this year, and The Captivating Lady Charlotte, which releases on 27 June 2017. You can pre-order here.
We had a lovely chat and a walk along the main street, visiting a few places as we went. I’ll even have an interview for you closer to release day, but for now, let me share a little about Carolyn’s upcoming release:

~ About the Book ~

Lady Charlotte Featherington is destined for great things on the marriage market. After all, as the beautiful daughter of a marquess, she should have her pick of the eligible nobility when she debuts. She, however, has love at the top of her list of marriageable attributes. And her romantic heart falls hard for one particularly dashing, attentive suitor. Sadly for Charlotte, her noble father intends her betrothed to be someone far more dull.
William Hartwell may be a duke, but he knows he was Charlotte’s father’s pick, not the young lady’s own choice. And the captivating Lady Charlotte does not strike him as a woman who will be wooed by his wealth or title. While she has captured his heart, he has no idea how to win hers in return–and the betrayal and scandal his first wife put him through makes it difficult for him to believe that love can ever be trusted. His only hope is that Charlotte’s sense of responsibility will win out over her romantic notions.
Can a widowed duke and a romantically inclined lady negotiate a future and discover love beyond duty? Will they be able to find healing and hope from the legacy of grace?

~ First Line ~

The room glimmered with a thousand points of sparkling light, the bright glow from the enormous crystal-dropped chandelier glinting off heavily beaded gowns, ornate mirrors, and the desperation shining in dozens of pairs of eyes.

Good one, huh?!

Happy Friday! My first line is from Karen Krist’s new LIH book The Engagement Charade, coming out July 1st (and it’s REALLY good!): “Alexander Copeland’s one goal in life was to be left alone.”

  3. I’m excited to read The Captivating Lady Charlotte! Fantastic first line! I’m currently reading (and loving) All Of You by Sarah Monzon. “Lieutenant Michael “Finch” Carrington pulled up the zipper of his green flight suit and stared at the mass on the opposite rack.”

  4. Good morning. My first line is from “Missing,” by Lisa Harris.
“Nikki Boyd slid out of her white Mini Cooper as two bagged bodies were being wheeled from the one-story house nestled in one of Nashville’s nicer suburbs.” 🙂

    Happy Friday and Happy Reading!

  6. From my first novel, Beneath Outstretched Arms: Velena ran a decent way from the gatehouse wall before finally stopping in an open field–no reason for stopping here, no reason at all.

I’m looking forward to reading Carolyn’s new book. I’m anxious to meet Lady Charlotte!
My first line is, “Fame isn’t as glamorous as people might think.” from The Why Have It by Amy Matayo.

    • Oh, I’m dying to read this! I was so disappointed to have to pass up being part of the launch team. I was a little concerned I was already overbooked for June. But I will be spotlighting Cory on the 24th, so stay tuned!

  8. That’s so cool! I loved The Elusive Miss Ellison! There is a review on my blog. 🙂 And I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Happy Saturday!

  9. I need to get on the ball and read the first book of the series!
Unless you get one of those miracles they’re always talking about in church, I don’t see how you’ll be able to keep the business open into spring.
