About the Book

Dreams Can Come True!

Brace yourself for a thrilling race through the twists and turns of a young woman determined to see her dream come true. On the cusp of the stock market crash of 1929, seventeen-year-old Molly has aspirations for a career in music after high school. With the passion of an athlete preparing for the Olympics, she trains relentlessly to become the best she can be. As her world collapses in unimaginable ways, she is left to find peace and purpose in the midst of her crisis. The message of His Gift is universal to anyone who has ever dared to dream in spite of uncontrollable circumstances. The reader will discover with Molly, the hope and peace in a life when yielded to the Giver of all gifts.

From the Author

The Peace that Passes Understanding

My historical fiction, His Gift, makes this topic tangible for the reader. Though the main character wrestles with a seemingly unbearable disappointment and loss, God’s faithfulness is becomes evident when she finally releases her gift and her dream back to Him. Sometimes we hang on so tightly to our dreams that we can’t see any other way to fulfillment and purpose.

His Gift is based on a true event in my mother’s life at the onset of The Great Depression. Being historical, I did extensive research to make certain the reader could step into another “world” beyond our own in 2020. However, it seems God’s timing of the book’s release in the middle of a pandemic is perfect for His purposes, of course.

Knowing the conflict from the onset of writing His Gift, it took me much longer to see where the book’s resolution should land. It is not a depressing book even though it’s dealing with difficult days from 1929, because it lifts the readers eyes to look for a bigger picture, the BIG PICTURE only the God of the universe can bring to pass. It is in relying on God’s faithfulness that we can be assured of His peace that passes all understanding. Not peace as the world gives, but a peace we can’t even humanly grasp. It is in this spiritual possibility that I hope to encourage people who read His Gift. I pray it will bring light into darkness, peace into anxiety, and hope for broken hearts.
