Welcome to the eighth day of Christmas Reads! Only four more days left to go after today! If you’ve missed any of the previous posts, make sure you check out the links at the end of this post.
I have to give a shout-out to Carrie at Reading is my Superpower for bringing today’s author and book to my attention. If you’re after a fun and fantastical Christmas read I think you’ll really enjoy this one. Allow me to introduce you to Laurie Germaine and her novel Tinsel in a Tangle.

~ Christmas with Laurie Germaine ~
Favourite Christmas carol: O Holy Night; Jackie Evancho’s rendition is my absolute fave (it’s been my morning alarm for the last two years running).
I’ll have to check that version out. What a song to wake to!
Favourite Christmas food: Does candy count? Queen Anne’s milk chocolate covered cherries <3
Candy totally counts! Especially at Christmas. 🙂
What’s one of your family’s Christmas traditions? My mom quilted me an Advent calendar with pockets numbered 1-24 in which to place little note cards. Each December, I write new things for our family to do or discover during the days leading up to Christmas.
What a great idea! And quilted too. Anything quilted gets my vote!
Strangest/most boring/worst present you’ve ever received: As a child, receiving clothes was booooring. Now I’m like, “New wool socks? Sah-WEET!”
Lol! The perspective adulthood brings!
If I was sitting on Santa’s knee right now, I’d ask him for . . . A pre-paid and pre-planned trip to Germany. 🙂
Ja, bitte!
If I was one of Santa’s elves, I would probably get the job of . . . interior painting. I’m good (no tape needed) and find it enjoyable.
I actually don’t mind paining, either. But I’d rather someone else did the prep and clean up!
Send a brief Christmas message to all your readers: May you each find time during the weeks in December for a bit of relaxation and reflection, so the busyness doesn’t drown out the significance of what we’re celebrating. Embrace your inner child and have some fun. 🙂
~ About the Author ~
Laurie is a New England native who once dreamed of raising her family in Europe and avoided anything that had to do with the American West (apologies to a large chunk of the USA). Today, she’s a walking testimony to God’s sense of humor, since she now lives (quite happily) in Montana with her husband, two daughters, and their sweet-hearted Alaskan Malamute.
Though she’s been crafting stories from a young age, she found renewed joy once she combined her year-round love for Christmas with an unused BA in German, and the seed was sown for TINSEL IN A TANGLE. When not immersed in her latest WIP (Work in Progress) or honing important life skills as a stay-home mom, you can find Laurie knitting anything from clothes to toys, or creating dioramas for her 16-inch poseable dolls (Ellowyne Wilde, anyone?).

~ About the Book ~
In the arctic town of Flitterndorf, generations of elves have worked alongside generations of Kringles to make gifts for believing children worldwide. Never have they endured a tall, blundering elf like Tinsel, though. Despite her setbacks, Tinsel’s determined to prove her worth by nabbing an internship at the Workshop. But when her latest mishap destroys gift reserves and puts Christmas in jeopardy, she lands a punishment mucking reindeer stalls for Santa’s hotshot grandson, Niklas. Now if she wants a second chance at that position, she must collaborate with the twinkle-eyed flirt to redeem herself in everyone’s eyes without messing up. For one more calamity will not only bring about the holiday’s demise, she’ll be immortalized as the elf who shattered children’s faith in Santa Claus.
So not the way she wants to go down in history.
